FARNWORTH LirrLE THEATRE
TRUSTEES ANNUAL REPORT 2024
Background
Farnworth Little Theatre was established in 1948 with our first main production at the local Co-op hall
the following year. We moved into the King's Hall in 1952 then into our current premises a declining
Church Army mission, on a long lease in the early 60s. In 1997 an agreement was reached with the Parish
Church on a price for the building, and purchase was completed at the end of 2001. The auditorium has
been completely refurbished and a disabled toilet installed.
Farnworth Little Theatre became a registered charity on 30 June 1981 and has since provided open
membership to the people of Farnworth and district for the purpose of educating the public in the art
of drama and the furtherance of public appreciation and taste in drama by studyin8 and regularly
performing play5 of merit in our own permanent theatre.

Summary of the year
During the last season the theatre has continued with 8eneral maintenance to ensure that the theatre is
kept upto a high standard for our members and audiences. We started our season with a murder-mystery
inspired, 'A Party to Murderf with a 8entle nod to Agatha Christie. A deeply moving and emotional roller-
coaster ride in 'The Lovely Bones,. A comedy followed with 'A Comedy of Tenors,. The classic 'Educating
Rita, was then followed by 'Death of a Salesman, which won the prestigious Greater Manchester Drama
Federation's J. Lees-jones Shield for best overall drama. The second season in a row we had won such
an award.

Our average attendance of all plays throughout the season was 95% and our finances continue a sound
footin8.
Plans for 2024125
Our play selection committee have selected a fantastic mix of plays for the coming season with a
good mix of old a new and thought provoking plays, And Then Were None by Agatha Christie, The
Father by Florian Zeller, Private Lives by Noel Coward, l am a Camera by Jonathan Van Druten and The
Revlon Girl by Neil Anthony Docking.
Conclusion
The trustees, having had due re8ard to the commission's public benefit guidance are confident that
Farnworth Little Theatre is being managed effectively and is fulfilling its, obligations to our members
and the wider community.

I have reviewed the accounts on a prima fade basls from the invol￿, bank statements, Nominal
Artivity Lists, Profit and Loss Account and Balance Sheet provided to me by the Honorary
Treasurer.
These include the following accounts:
Current account
Bar account
Business Reserve (Deposit) account
Petty Cash
8ar Cash
Box Office Cash
I have not carried out a full finanaal audit and have not confirmed that the amounts are correct
attributed to each category, but I have undertaken the following checks:
l. Checked the debits and credits in the Nominal Activity Ilsts to the debits and credits in the
bank statements for the Current account, the Bar account and the Deposit account.
2. Checked that there are invoices to match the majority of the deblt Items In the Nominal
Activity lists for the Current account and the Bar account. At the time of the audit, the bills
from Opus Energy were not avallable, but the Treasurer wlll present them to the Audltor as
soon as posslble.
3. UThJertaken a visual theck of the items in the Nominal Attivity lists for the three Cash
accounts to ensure they are reasonable and consistent with expected expendlture. I have
also checked that the cash amounts paid into the bank appear on the bank statements.
4. Checked that the difference bel￿een the opening and closing bank and cash balan￿5 is
equal to the net profit of £10,390.34 shown in the Profit & Loss account.
Following these checks, I concur that the income and expendlture shown in the Proflt & L055
Account tallles w￿h the bank statements and the Nomlnal Activlty Ilsts, that the Balance Sheet
figures are correct and that the net profit for the year of £10,39J.34 is Cor￿Ct.
Congratulation5 on another extremely successfiJl year!
