**Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document** 

The object of the association is to educate the public in general and the inhabitants of the Borough of Crewe and Nantwich and surrounding areas within reasonable travelling distance there from in particular in the dramatic and operatic arts to further the development of public appreciation and taste in the said arts; and in furtherance of this object but not further or otherwise the association through its Executive Committee shall have the following powers: 

- (a) to present or assist in presenting dramatic performances, recitals, play readings, lectures, arts festivals, arts exhibitions and public

concerts and other arts events, as the General Meeting or Executive Committee may determine. 

- (b) To provide and maintain premises for such presentations. 

- (c) To establish or further the works of other institutions or organisations to be formed or already existing for the promotion of the said objects. 

- (d) To do all such other things as are necessary for the attainment of the foregoing objects. 

Having had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit, the Trustees confirm that the following activities are undertaken for the public benefit: 

- Dramatic performances; 

- Recitals; 

- Play readings; 

- Lectures; 

- Arts festivals; 

- Arts exhibitions;

## Section D                      Achievements and performance 

**Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** 

- Nantwich Players had 130 members during the period, with an additional 25 members of its Youth Theatre and many on the waiting list. 

- Operational Recovery from the effects of the Coronavirus Pandemic were complete during the year, with 6 main house productions, a ‘Youth Theatre’ production and three ‘Studio’ productions. 

- In addition, a new service for 6-11 yr olds has been operational on Saturday mornings. 

- Nantwich Players again won the ‘Best Northern 1 act Production’ in the All England Festival during the year.

**Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves** 

Reserves are divided into General Reserves and Property Fund Reserves. General Reserves are available for the Executive Committee to allocate as required for operational, maintenance, refurbishment and repair purposes. Property Fund Reserves are classed as Designated Funds, which are amounts which have been set aside at the discretion of the trustees for the specific, but not legally binding, purpose of funding activities associated with the Theatre Rebuilding Project.

The charity plans to refurbish its auditorium in the year following this, based on the more-rapid recovery from the Pandemic, than that forecast in its planning.

Respectlve responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charitrfs truste8s are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charitys
trustees consider thal an audit is not required for this year uThJer section 144{2) of the
Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
examine t￿ accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act;
to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity
Commission under section 14515)Ibl of the 2011 Act. and
to state whèther particular matters have come to my attention.

My examination was carried out in aCc￿rdan￿ wth the general Directions given by the
Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the acc£>unting records kept by
