**Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document** 

The object of the association is to educate the public in general and the inhabitants of the Borough of Crewe and Nantwich and surrounding areas within reasonable travelling distance there from in particular in the dramatic and operatic arts to further the development of public appreciation and taste in the said arts; and in furtherance of this object but not further or otherwise the association through its Executive Committee shall have the following powers: 

- (a) to present or assist in presenting dramatic performances, recitals, play readings, lectures, arts festivals, arts exhibitions and public

concerts and other arts events, as the General Meeting or Executive Committee may determine. 

- (b) To provide and maintain premises for such presentations. 

- (c) To establish or further the works of other institutions or organisations to be formed or already existing for the promotion of the said objects. 

- (d) To do all such other things as are necessary for the attainment of the foregoing objects. 

Having had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit, the Trustees confirm that the following activities are undertaken for the public benefit: 

- Dramatic performances; 

- Recitals; 

- Play readings; 

- Lectures; 

- Arts festivals; 

- Arts exhibitions;

## Section D                      Achievements and performance 

**Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** 

- Nantwich Players had 135 members during the period, with an additional 25 members of its Youth Theatre and many on the waiting list. 

- Recovery from the effects of the Coronavirus Pandemic were well under way during the year, with 4 main house productions, a ‘Youth Theatre’ production and two ‘Studio’ productions.

Reserves are divided into General Reserves and Property Fund Reserves. 

**Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves** General Reserves are available for the Executive Committee to allocate as required for operational, maintenance, refurbishment and repair purposes. 

Property Fund Reserves are classed as Designated Funds, which are amounts which have been set aside at the discretion of the trustees for the specific, but not legally binding, purpose of funding activities associated with the Theatre Rebuilding Project.

I report on the accounts of the Trust (Registered Charity No. 510853) for the year ended
30th April 2022, which are set out on pages 03 to 06.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charitls
trustees consider that an audit is nol required for this year under section 144{2) of the
Charities Acl 2011 (the 2011 Act) 8nd that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibilty to..
examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act.,
to follow the prO￿dureS laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity
Commission under section 145(5llbl of the 2011 Act., and
to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of tndependent examinerfs report
My examination was Carried out in accordan￿ with the general Directions given by the
Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by
the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes
consideration of any unusual itéms or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking
explan2tions from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures
undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in 8n audit and
consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair view,
and Ihe report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention..

1. Land and Buildings
No1 Lové Lane was purchased in March 2009 for £84,796.50. The land 8nd
Buildings have been valued at cost.
2. Stock at Bar.
As in past years the Stock at Bar has not been reflected in the accounts.
3. Bank Balances
The movement on the accounts is shown on page 5.
The RBS Current Account is used by the General Fund for everyday business.
One Leek United Building Society Account is used as a contingency savings account
by th8 General Fund.
The Nat West Current Account is used by the Property Development Fund.
The other Leek United Building Society Account is used as a savings account
for the Property Development Fund.
4. Mortgages. from Nantwlch Town Councll (NTC)
The No 1 Loan foi £50,000 was repayable over 1 Oyears at six monlhly
intervals. Each payment for interesl and principal w£s £2,783.16. The first
repayment was made in October 2009 and the final payment in April 2019.. A
No 2 Loan was taken from NTC for £40,000 repayable over 10 years at six
monthly intervals. Each payment of interest and principle is £2,329.83. The first
repayment was made in September 2016
5. Property Reserve
This reserve represents amounts transferred out of other reserves as capital
repayments are made on both the No 1 and 2 NTC Loans
6. Loan Repayment.
The Trust made the final payment on the No 1 loan on 8th April 2019.
