Cumbria Christian Youth Camp Trust (CCYC) Charity No: 510036 Annual Report – Year Ending 31[st] December 2023

CCYC is a tented camp held at Braithwaite Memorial Institute, near Keswick in the Lake District. It is arranged each year with the express purpose of telling young people about the Lord Jesus Christ. The camp is for approximately 160 boys and girls between the age of 11 and 16, who are arranged in groups of 8 or 9 under the care of a Tent Leader. The children come from all over Cumbria and a few from other parts of the country. Some have a Church, Sunday School, Youth Club background but others have never heard the good news of Jesus Christ. Camp activities include inter-tent and individual competitions, indoor and outdoor games, swimming, climbing, canoeing, crafts, drama etc. Most of the activities are organised by Camp Leaders with the exception of more technical outdoor pursuits such as rock climbing, archery, canoeing, etc.

The dates for 2023 were Saturday 29[th] July to Saturday 5[th] August. A Leaders Preparation Day was also organised for July 1[st] at Hebron Church, Carlisle.

In addition to the camp – during 2023 the Reunion for the previous year’s camp took place on Saturday 18[th] February 2023 – at Hebron Church Carlisle.

CCYC does not have any membership – just the trustees that form the trust. All other leaders are volunteers (from year to year).

Three trustees meetings were held during 2023:

  1. Saturday 22[nd] April 2023 – held online over Zoom
