Reposts from sections Beavers (Tony), Cubs (Pauline), Scouts (John), Explorers (Tony) GSL (Tony)** ## **Beaver Report** What a year its been but beavers are resilient. We still have 15 Beavers and 3 on the waiting list. Now we have returned face to face Scouting we have plans upto Christmas and we have zoom session in our back pocket in case of a further lockdown. In lockdown all but one beaver took part in Zoom sessions and the activity pack we produced resulting in a very big badge bill, which is great. We said goodbye to Peter (Hedgehog) and wish him well at University. He will be back in his breaks from his studies. Thank you to Sally, Vicki and Adam for making our meeting great! ## **Cub Report** Since last years AGM we have like the rest of the country had to find new ways to meet. During lockdown Tony has used our motto “Be Prepared” and ran some excellent zoom meetings for all sections, which were very successful. Parents/carers were able to join in an contribute with little quizzes and scavenger hunts. We are now back and running with 14 cubs, with the new restrictions we only have space for 1 more. Over the next few weeks we will be doing lots of badge work and spending as much time as possible outside. Since our last AGM we have had 7 cubs move upto Scouts and Beavers swimming up virtually and unfortunately two did not return from lockdown along with our new leader Terry who moved out of Rugby but is still scouting where he is now. I would like to thank Tony, Jayne, Kirk and Layla for their commitment over the last 12 months and look forward to seeing what the next 12 months bring. ## **Scout Report** Like im sure most of Scouting world wide we have also been affected by Covid. We went to Zoom session where 6 of the 12 Scout took part. Special mention to Molly, Max and Shannon who attended every session, once the IT issues were sorted out. They all did lots of badge work and to a high standard too. We are short of leaders but will leave that to the plan Tony has for recruitment. All camps were cancelled but as soon as we are allowed to camp out, we will be running lots with hammock sleepovers and back to basic camps too. Tony will be looking at getting help from parents while we have the covid plan in place. ## **Explorer Report** Another strange year. In February and March we managed to get 5 Bronze D of E completed. Just as we were about the do all our expeditions for Silver and Bronze we went into lockdown. We have three explorers who have completed the other three sections of their bronze and have moved onto silver and we will be able to complete the bronze once we an get out camping again. We have 12 explorers on the books but we are yet to hear from three of them if they plan to return after lockdown. The two big moments of the year are the Peter and Poppy have completed and signed off their Gold D of E award and both have presentations booked in the Diary to Complete their Queen’s Scout Awards. These will be the first Queens Scout awards in the Group. I am extremely proud of them both. ## **GSL Report** The Big news of this year is of course Covid and I am amazed at the resilience of our young people and members. They took to zoom like ducks to water and although not for everyone we also produced packs for each section that are on our website. We also signposted to the national scout pages. We manage to secure the Covid Grant off the Council of £10k that we have used in part to get the building covid secure. We are getting quotes for some floodlighting to the front and the side of the building so we can do activities out there. We still have two groups using the building so its well used every evening and Saturday morning. Both these groups we have assisted in making sure they stick to our covid plant and helped create their covid risk assessments. I’m really proud how each section has come back to Face to Face Scouting it was wonderful to see and hear them last week but I do wish beavers came with a mute all button. Part of the return involved using OSM management system to record our members progress through the sections and as a messaging tool to our parents. It took a while but every parent whose children have returned have logged in and updated their child’s records. Subs in the main are now collected monthly by standing order and the cost of membership of a year is £120 payable over 12 months. But the highlight of the year is that in Poppy and Peter gaining their Gold D of E award. I for one can’t wait to see the photos from the Palace. We can’t do Scouting without the leaders who put their time into planning and running sections so to all my team I can’t thank you enough. We are low in leaders especially in Scouts and Explorers and could do with one more in cubs. If any parent thinks they would like to give it a try please talk to one of us. We have taken the decision to not do Grotto this year so we can come back bigger and better next. You can all have December off (except xmas post of course) **9. He was particularly happy to see how well membership had been maintained and thought the use of online resources had been excellent and clearly contributed hugely to the retention of members from Beavers through to Explorers. CW also thanked TM for leading the group through this difficult time and the energy and enthusiasm he brings to the task. In particular CW thanked all the leaders for their efforts during the [pandemic and for helping Peter and Poppy secure their Gold D of E awards. **12.
