We had set ourselves some modest goals with a little new music, basically 4 songs. We need to look at what were successes. Tell My Father and Yma O Hyd were two, and we need more like that. That is why he has set the challenge of 8 new songs. 3 are already on order. For the Longest Time, Sit Down Your Rocking the Boat and Bridge over Troubled Water. He is still open to further suggestions. We will work on these and perhaps some other material in our back catalogue that will make the repertoire more robust. Recruitment: We have had a few new members, and he is happy to see all of us back. But we need to find ways to get more. There is a lack of depth in certain sections which means individuals are bearing too much responsibility. If we all asked someone we knew to join that could double the choir. Word of mouth is best. Sections need to be boosted. Options: We need to talk about people who can support the choir if and when Luciano and/or Annette are unavailable to attend. Luciano asked for volunteers who would be prepared to conduct the choir as Keith Jones has done in the past. He would mentor someone with small pieces to start and then gradually build up to a concert. He wants some songs with guitars to share the load of musical support for the choir. This will all give the choir a firmer base for the future. Thank you all for your efforts. I know I have hammered you hard on the Welsh songs. I hope you will use the same effort to learn the new songs to get us to next year’s annual concert. ## **Item 5 Chairman’s address** ## . **See appendix 2** ## **Item 6 Treasurer’s report** **see** 6.1 For the detailed report from Ian Evans, . **appendix 3** 6.2 It is raised by a choir member that the amount of funds currently held is too much and that we need to be aware that the Charities Commission might consider it profit making. Ian Evans, agrees that the choir must consider how to use the extra funds. It is a good problem top have but the new committee have to decide what to do. There are various options, eg new music sheets, new choir suits, a subsidy for a tour for the choir, increasing the remuneration for the musical director and accompanist. The last option was considered not to be appropriate at the present time but, will, as ever, be kept in consideration by the committee. ## **Item 7 Subscriptions** No change to members subscriptions following the recommendation of the Treasurer Ian Evans ## **Item 8 Appointment of Tellers ( if necessary)** Not necessary. ## **Item 9 Election of Officers and Committees** **See appendix 4.** It was open to the attendees to thereafter put themselves forward for any role on the officer list. **9.** 1 Confirmation of Phil Pritchard becoming the new choir Chairman. As a result, Ian Evans was able to stand down after ten years. His contribution to that role and to the choir was recognised by all attending and he was given a standing ovation. He was also presented by Phil Pritchard with a gift to recognise his efforts. 9.2 Philip Pritchard’s old role of collecting cash subs was opened to anyone who wanted to do it. However, those remaining choir members who still paid by cash were encouraged to put a STO in place. 9.3 Steve Spokes confirmed he was happy to replace Martin Jones as Social Secretary. He kindly agreed as one of his first duties to arrange an event for the ladies of the former ladies committee which disbanded last year. 9.4 Martin Jones offered to take on one of the roles which had been previously the responsibility of Graeme Davies. It was agreed that Martin would become the Publicity officer for the choir. 9.5 John Sheppard put himself forward to be another committee member. 9.6 Alun Wilmott agreed to become the Welfare officer instead of Jeff Williams. 9.7 Bill Adshead agreed to be Health and Safety officer. 9.8 As stated above Ian Evans is now the new Treasurer. **Item 10 Notices of Motion** None ## **Item 11 Presentation/ recognition** **11.1** Two choir members were awarded certificates for their dedication to the choir over 25 years. They were Mansel Young and Graham Roberts. ## **Item 12 Suggested date of next AGM- 4 May 2027** ## **Item 12 Any other Business** **12.** 1 It was asked as to whether the annual concert had been recorded. It had not except for Alison Rees recording some songs . Luciano mentioned that he has a friend who would be willing to record the choir whether in practice or possibly in a concert. He can arrange for students to utilise the opportunity as part of their studies. This was well received by the meeting as a good idea. 12.2 Discussion occurred about whether to alter the practice nights to encourage recruitment and attendance by current members. No decision was reached to change the current practice nights. Introduction** This report presents a review of the financial performance of Pontnewydd Male Choir for the financial year ended 31 December 2025, based on the Income and Expenditure Account and supporting schedules contained within the annual accounts. The year has been financially successful, delivering a significant surplus and further strengthening the Choir’s overall financial position. ## **2. Summary of Financial Results** Total income for the year amounted to £25,784.74. Total expenditure amounted to £16,079.70, resulting in a net surplus of £9,716.49 for the year. This surplus has been added to reserves, contributing to total net assets of £54,248.82 at the year end. ## **3. Income** Income during the year was strong and well balanced across several sources. The largest contributors were donations and grants (£10,997.91) and membership subscriptions (£8,938.43). Fundraising activities, sponsorship, concerts and performance proceeds also made valuable contributions, demonstrating broad community and member support. ## **4. Expenditure** Total expenditure for the year was £16,079.70. The main areas of expenditure were gratuities (£7,545.00), room hire (£2,152.50), website costs (£1,553.47), storage (£892.80) and concert-related costs (£847.71). Other costs were modest, well controlled and appropriate to the Choir’s activities. ## **5. Accounting Adjustments** Minor timing adjustments were made to ensure income and expenditure were matched to the correct financial year. These adjustments do not materially affect the overall financial outcome. ## **6. Financial Position and Outlook** The Choir’s cash balances and reserves remain strong. The surplus achieved during the year provides increased financial resilience and flexibility for future activity, subject to continued prudent financial management. ## **7. Conclusion** The financial results for 2025 represent a very positive outcome.
