**Objects:** THE OBJECT OF THE TRUST SHALL BE TO FURTHER THE MUSICAL EDUCATION OF TALENTED YOUNG SINGERS OR INSTRUMENTALISTS WHO ARE OR WHO ATTEND AN EDUCATIONAL ESTABLISHMENT WITHIN THE AREA COVERED BY THE DH ROYAL MAIL POSTCODE, BY THE PROVISION OF BURSARIES TO BE CALLED JAMES ETHERINGTON AWARDS AT SUCH TIMES AND OF SUCH AMOUNTS AND TO BE COMPETED FOR ON SUCH TERMS AS THE TRUSTEES SHALL DECIDE.

**Activities:** An award of £500 and one of £250 may be given on an annual basis to the winner and runner-up of an annual competition for young musicians - instrumentalists or singers. Furthermore, consolation prizes are awarded to the other finalists in the competition - usually of at least £75 each.
