In planning our activities for the year, we kept in mind the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit at our trustee meetings.

Scouting is a youth social movement that emphasizes practical outdoor activities including camping, woodcraft, aquatics, hiking, backpacking and sports.   Young people are supported in their personal development and encouraged to make a positive contribution to society, learning skills for life, gaining selfconfidence and encouraged to take responsibility.   Scouting develops young people physically, intellectually, socially and spiritually.   The key aspect is that this is a fun and enriching experience.

Section D                      Achievements and performance 

**Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** 

2023 saw an increase in activities for the District. people.   The highlight was an expedition to Scoutcentrum in Holland involving 55 young people. There were also activities in the UK such as white water rafting and adventure days.   All were successful and contributed to the development of participants.

**Brief statement of the** The reserves of the District are used to support the activities of the **charity’s policy on reserves** Scouting movement.   At the year end, bank balances totalling £109,104 were held, of which £23,228 was held under the Melvin Skidmore bequest. Independent Examiner's Report on the Account to 31st December 2023
I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts for the year ended 31 December
2023.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts
in accordance with the Charities Act 20111"the Act"). I report in respect of my examination
of the Trust's accounts carried out under $145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination,
I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under s14515llb)
of the Act.
Independent examlner's statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my
attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any
material respect:
accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Act; or
the accounts do not accord with the accounting records. I have no concerns and have
come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should
be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
