In November 2020 a new board of trustees was set up after previous closure of the original charity “Greenmount wild bird hospital in July 2019.
From thereon plans were in motion to completely renovate and refurbish a very dilapidated site .
In January 2022 while restoration was underway it was agreed at a meeting of the trustees that it would be beneficial to both local wildlife and the community to extend the care of the orphaned sick and injured to all wildlife including birds.
This decision was supported by the rspca and other wildlife organisations and therefore the appropriate submissions were made to the charity commission to this effect.
The charity name was changed to “Kirklees valley wildlife rescue rescue”
Refurbishment of the site during this year comprised the following projects …
Drainage of ponds on site and correct re routing of water which had caused land damage .
Shoring up of bankings down to the river .
Creation of a new car park within the site where previously we had to rely on the cooperation of neighbours .
The erection of a new exterior substantial fence to ensure security.
Demolition of Avaries that were no longer fit for purpose and beyond repair .
Repair and renovation of buildings and Avaries that could be saved .
Purchase of a portacabin for use as triage and reception.
Purchase of sheds for the purpose of treatment rooms and food preparation.
All projects ongoing and accomplished are well documented and photos corresponding.
