## Chair’s Report This year has been one of real momentum for our community group. We’ve strengthened our connections, expanded our activities, and made significant progress toward improving our shared spaces. What stands out most is the collective effort — every event, every meeting, every volunteer hour has helped move us forward. ## Highlights of the Year ## Fundraising Success Our fundraising efforts have been exceptional. We were awarded grants from the National Lottery, the Parish Council, and Cumberland Council, providing a vital financial foundation for the first stage of the refurbishment of the recreation ground. This is a major milestone, and it reflects both the strength of our plans and the confidence others have in our community. Alongside these grants, our own events and activities have continued to bring in valuable support: - Monthly cinema nights have become a reliable and enjoyable source of income. - Our lively Ceilidh added both funds and fun to the year. - The Bake Off raised a substantial amount — and we’re delighted to have the opportunity to run it again this year. ## Annual Events Our regular events continue to be at the heart of our community calendar: - The Dog Show brought together families, neighbours, and plenty of wagging tails. - The Quiz Night once again proved how competitive and good-humoured we can be. - The Christmas Coffee Morning offered a warm and festive gathering to round off the year. ## Looking Ahead With funding secured and plans in motion, the coming year will focus heavily on the recreation ground refurbishment. This project represents a long-term investment in our shared outdoor space, and we’re excited to see the first stage take shape. We will also be holding an Open Gardens event later this year, giving residents a chance to showcase their gardens and support our fundraising efforts. We’ll continue to: - Grow participation in our events - Explore new fundraising opportunities - Strengthen partnerships with local organisations - Encourage more residents to get involved in shaping our community’s future ## Thank You None of this progress would be possible without the dedication of our volunteers, supporters, and partners.
