## **Independent examiner’s report to the trustees of 59[th] Sheffield (St Augustine’s) Scout Group Trust**

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the 59[th] Sheffield (St Augustine’s) Scout Group (“the Trust”) for the year ended 31 March 2022.

## **Responsibilities and basis of report**

As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

## **Independent examiner’s statement**

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the

Act; or

2. the accounts do not accord with those records.

In conducting my examination, I noted a lapse in the keeping of accounting records. The accounts show £1,340 of both income and expenditure above the amounts recorded in the bank accounts of the group. It is not clear why this amount has arisen but I would be concerned that this may indicate the receipt of cash rather than the use of the groups bank account.

I recommend that the group reviews its accounting systems and reinforces the requirement for all cash payments and expenses to be correctly identified by Leaders and that a robust system for this is introduced as I cannot be certain that this is not a balancing figure.

I confirm there are no other matters to which your attention should be drawn to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached,

Signed: Andrew Martin
