TRUSTEES REPORT 2022

Dear Members, Committee and Staff,

This last year has seen the Centre overcome almost all of the problems that came our way. Lockdowns turned into opening up thanks to the intervention of our local M.P. Emma Lewell-Buck. Government grants helped us through a barren time and we also added an extra minibus to our fleet to accommodate our growing membership.

Grants from The Arnold Clark Fund, William Leech, The National Lottery, Hadrian Trust, Northumbria Police, Barbour Foundation, The Council CAF Fund, Community Foundation and the Freemasons have all helped the Centre. As a result we have improved the Disabled Toilet, Installed a ramp on one of the minibuses, and will be decorating the Centre very soon and fitting new carpets. The rest of the grants have helped with the rise in fuel.

Our volunteers have climbed in number thanks to the local College who are sending students studying care of the elderly.

Our staff has changed with Norman, Debbie and Helen, the Drivers, replacing Peter and Fred. We also have Mick covering on a Friday. Still with us are Ian and Sharon our two longstanding managers.

The only setback has been the price of fuel and utilities which have rocketed up in price.

Hall hire is nearly back to 100% and the Centre is seeing a footfall of nearly 40,000.

Many thanks to the staff for all of their hard work in keeping the Centre alive and thriving. Here’s to a full and fruitful year ahead.

Thank you.
