……. Taking Jesus seriously in today’s world
Trustees Annual Report on 25th October 2021
For the period from 1[st] April 2020 to 31[st] March 2021 Registered charity number 508712
Governance:
Our governing document is our constitution. The charity, constituted as a trust, currently has four trustees appointed, when necessary, by the church members. Members meet four monthly for business meetings.
Objectives and activities:
The proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the local neighbourhood and the world by preaching and teaching the evangelical Christian faith. Sunday morning & evening worship services. Sunday school for primary school aged children. A weekly Prayer and Bible study meeting. Since the Covid-19 lockdown, 23/3/2020, our children and youth clubs, parent and toddlers, lunch clubs and morning assemblies at nearby primary schools were terminated. We have been unable to run church services in two local care homes. Donations were made to relief and missionary organisations in the UK and overseas.
Achievements and performance:
During the pandemic, by using Zoom technology, we have maintained our morning and evening Sunday worship services and weekly Prayer and Bible study meeting with good attendance. We have reached out to our local community with financial support of two local food banks and one needy individual. The church employs (i) a full time Pastor (ii) a part time Children and Youth worker, CYW, since 12/11/2020 and (iii) a cleaner.
To keep contact with children who regularly attend, four weekly videos of teaching, craft, quizzes and singing were made and available on YouTube for local children and parents. In the same way daily material for a four-day “holiday club” was available in July. Both these initiatives proved popular. Our new CYW made five illustrated teaching videos for our three local primary schools which were well received. A printed 16-page Safeguarding Policy is applied. Our Health & Safety Policy and certificate of Employers’ Liability Insurance are displayed. A Fire alarm, smoke sensors & fire extinguishers protect the church.
Financial review:
Our financial commitment is the 3 salaries and building maintenance. Donations are given by church members and congregation. The church annual income was £78,043 to 31/3/21, including gift aid relief. A deacon is the treasurer. Four church officers meet every 6 weeks and review the financial position. A financial report is presented in February, June and October at church members’ business meetings. There is no official reserves policy. Bank balance on 31[st] March 2021 was £77,082. Annual accounts are externally independently examined by a chartered accountant. Trustees: Mr Nigel Jones, Mr David Lovelock, Mr Jonathan Prest and Mr Paul Scorer. The trustees declare that they have approved the trustees’ report above Signed on behalf of the charity’s trustees:
