TRUSTEES’ ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDING 31.03.2025 FOR CITY CENTRAL MOSQUE (ISLAMIC CENTRE) REGENT ROAD, HANLEY, STOKE ON TRENT ST1 3AY.
The constitution of the charity was adopted on 18th February 1979 and amended on 26 December 1993.
OBJECTIVES OF THE CHARITY The City Central Mosque (Islamic Centre) is established for the presentation and advancement of Islam in the City of Stoke on Trent and other areas of North Staffordshire by the provision of a purposebuilt mosque, Full Funeral Facilities and education in the principles of Islam in such other ways as the Trustees shall think fit and for the relief of poverty among members of the Islamic Centre and community at large.
The charity is managed by theManagement Committee which consists[of] four holding Trustees and eleven charity trustees elected every five years at the AGM. The existing Committee was elected on 9th December 2018 at AGM. The committee meets on first Sunday of every month to transact the business of the charity. The Charitable collections are made on every Friday and on annual Religious Festivals (Eid, Ramadan) for the expenses of the charity and distribution to charities locally and internationally. During this year we employed 1 full-time Imam/Minister of Religion (2 part-time male and 2 female teachers) to facilitate our day to day services which Mosques provides to the whole Muslim community and other communities when needed. The City Central Mosque (Islamic Centre) operates an open door policy and educational visits are encouraged from all sections of the community to develop better understanding of Islamic Faith, cohesive society and encourage integration. During past year students and teachers from 35 Schools, Colleges and Universities attended our Mosque for educational visits where they were supported by our Imams and Committee Members.
During last year we had organised 9 big religious gatherings where a large majority (approximately 1200-1500) of local Muslim Community Members attended, in such gatherings local, national and international artists, scholars and spiritual leaders gave lecturers about the values and visions of Islam and how to integrate and co-operate with other religions and cultures. These big gatherings play a vital role in order to enhance beliefs, practices and encourage followers to live an exemplary life.
Our Mosque provides full funeral services to all the Muslims living in and around Stoke-OnTrent. Last year 30 + funerals were held in our Mosque. At these sad and difficult times Mosque gives families full support and guidance to cope with their immense losses. Our community members sit in the Mosque or Community centre for 3 -4 days where other community members pay their respect and support bereaved families.
City Central Mosque (Islamic Centre) facilitates religious part of Islamic Weddings.
During past Year City Central Mosque supported different local and international charities were supported financially through funds collected from worshippers. Our worshippers have contributed generously towards these causes and The Management Committee thanks the public whole heartedly for their cooperation and anticipates that you will continue your support in the future.

Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
As the charity’s trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts; you consider that the audit requirement of section 43(2) of the Charities Act 1993 (the Act) does not apply. It is my responsibility to state, on the basis of procedures specified in the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners under section 43(7)(b) of the Act, whether particular matters have come to my attention.

Basis of independent examiner’s report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a ‘comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any wnusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
