BRIDGEND MALE CHOIR
TRUSTEES REPORT FOR YEAR ENDING SEPTEMBER 2024
This report covers the accounting period 1[st] October 2023 to 30[th] September 2024.
Bridgend Male Choir is a registered charity (Charity Registration Number 508455), established in 1960; the 4 main aims of our 80-strong choir are :
- (1) to promote choral singing; ranging from religious, classical, musical theatre and contemporary;
(2) to fund-raise to donate to charities;
and also aid other charities in their fund-raising by performing at their events, which included :

The Royal British Legion Concert at Hope Baptist Church, Bridgend;
-
The Annual Remembrance Day Concert at The Bridgend Senotaph;
-
Joint Concert with Meibion Goronwy, Anglesey;
-
Joint Concert with Ruthin Male Choir, North Wales;
-
Concert at Bridgend Town Council’s Switching-on-the-Xmas-Lights;
-
Christmas Concert with St Mary’s Church Primary School, Bridgend;
-
Joint Concert with Capo & Crescendo Young Choirs at Pisgah Chapel, Pyle;
-
The London Welsh Society Concert, London;
-
The Rotary Club Concert, Trelales School, Laleston, Bridgend;
-
Armed Forces Day Performance in Bridgend Town Centre;
-
Joint Concert with Churchdown Male Voice Choir, Gloucester.
-
(3) to sustain ourselves by raising funds and operating prudently;
means of raising funds have included :

membership subscriptions;

various raffles;
-
hosting our own events, incl
-
The Annual Concert at The Tabernacl Chapel, Bridgend;
-
The Annual Luncheon at Tondu Cricket Club;
-
The Annual Dinner Dance at The Masonic Hall, Bridgend;
-
providing entertainment at three Weddings;
-
(4) to interact with our local communities and garner interest in the benefits of group, communal singing on the well-being of people of all ages; means of doing this have included :
-
mini-concerts at local primary schools;
-
after-glows (organised singing) and Carol-singing at local pubs;
-
recruitment events.
Our weekly rehearsals not only provide the ability to perform and improve as a choir, but are also social events giving our 80 choristers the opportunity to meet and enjoy each others’ company ……. “ Friendship Through Music ”.
