BRIDGEND MALE CHOIR
TRUSTEES REPORT FOR YEAR ENDING SEPTEMBER 2023
Bridgend Male Choir is a registered charity established in 1960 whose aims are to promote choral singing and to perform charitable performances to aid other charities in their fund raising adventures. To these aims the choir perform music ranging from religious, classical, songs from musical theatre and contemporary.
During this time period the choir performed in Newquay Cornwall as guests of Newquay Male Voice Choir raising funds for a local charity, our own Annual concert in Bridgend, the Remembrance Day service at the Cenotaph in Bridgend, a formal Christmas event at a local venue, and two events at Masonic Halls one in Bridgend in aid of Marie Curie another in Cardiff in aid of the Masonic Hall Benevolent fund. Further events were for a performance for New Zealand based group Operatunity in Cardiff Castle a weekend trip to Wexford Ireland to perform concerts for a local charity and a St David’s Day Concert with Hereford Police Male Voice choir. The final performance of this period was the 2023 Annual Concert Held at Tabernacl Bridgend with soloist Jessica Robinson who had recently been a finalist in the Cardiff Singer of the World competition.
The Choir also held recruitment events at the McAthur Glen shopping centre to promote the choir and foster interest in the benefits of group/communal singing a peoples wellbeing. Other events include entertaining at a wedding in Cardiff and a festival in Llantwit Major Vale of Glamorgan.
Social events included the Annual Summer luncheon with Guest speaker and also the Choir Christmas Ball.
All these activities enabled the choir to continue to operate on a sound financial footing and to meet all obligations for the next financial reporting period.
