•mployees worklng alongsld8 our dedicatsd group of voluntser8 who are In many ways the Irfoblood of the
organisatlon.
A major ¢h8nge during the year 8aw Iha appolnlment of Kris Connell as the full-time th&alr8 manager wlth overall
responslbillty for Ihe everyday runnlng ol th8 venue Induding programmlng shows and Implementlng
development plans as approved by tha board.
A more analytlcal approach lo th8 nature of show8 belng 8t8ged at the Iheatre has resulted In Increased
audl8nce numbers wlth a number of Shows bolng total sell•OUts. These ranged from leadlng tribute shows,
children's shows and Ilve muslc demonslratlng Ihat the theatre18 appeallng to a wlde demographlc,

the thgatre.
Durlng the y6ar. the Emplre hosted producllons and perfomiances from a number of groups and 80cietle¥ who
ara tenants Including Blackbum Musl¢al Th&alre Group, Blackburn Drama Club. Blackburn G&S, Made for Stage
and Zoe Taylorfs DanceAcademy.
Oth&r groups who stage performanc88 and shows on a regular basls Include Create Theatre Acad8my, Katrina's
Dan¢9 Acadomy. the Bernose School of Dance. House of Fusion, Prfma Dan¢8, Dance Syndrome and
Rossendale Sports School.
Long-standing tenants Pendle Productkins slgned 8 new18a8e on a 8mallor room durfng tha year which In tum
freed-up thalr fomior 'home' to be ¢onverted Into a new rehear$818paco. A now enlran¢a Including a small
recepllon space complete wllh kitchen and tollet and disablld access was ￿nStrUcted. The room was Insulated
8nd a naw sprung dancefloor pul d¢)wn and once completo Made For Stage became our nawest tonants slgning
8 new l&ase.
The Crea￿On of a new rehe?r8al space was lust one of a serl8s of improvements carrfed out durlng the year wllh
the majority of the work belng undertaken durlng the annual ￿-week 'shutdown' In August, other work cathed
out in 2025 included the r8furblshment of the foyer tollets includlng new unlts, Sinks. tollets, urinals and new
Iloorlng.
The Go's, a group whlch Is based 8t the Ihoatre, donatsd £1000 whl¢h wa8 U88d to upgrade and refurblsh Tho
Green Room. maklng It a welcom8 space for all arbsts to use pr8 show, In this space are 80tte8s. bean bags, a
frldge, coffee 8 tea maklng facllltles and a TV.
A new sprung floor was fitted in the D8nc8 Sludlo CUTr8ntty o¢¢upled by Zoo Taylor Danco Academy 8nd a new
dan¢8 floor was fitted Into the Bory Room maklngll a much more usable 5pac8.
Plans are already in place to improve th8 orchestra plt In the maln theatre In 2026.

Tho Iruste88 havo examlned the charitys requlrem8nt for reserves In the Ilght of tho main risks to the
orgonlsauon. It ha$ establlshgd a pollcy whereby the unrg8trlct8d funds not commltted or Invesl8d in lan9ible
flxed assets held by the charity should be at least 3 months of th6 monthly expendlture of approxlmalely
£47,100. The reserves are needed to meel tha worklng capltal requir¢ments of tha charlty and the trustees are
Conf￿ent that at this level thay would be able to contlnue the currant actlvities of the charity In the event of a
significant drop in fundlng.
The trustees wlll alm to ensura the contlnuation of Current acllvltles in the 8vent of a slgnfflcant drop In Income. In
th1$ event It would be nec8888ry to con8ld8r how fiJndlng would be r8placed or the a¢tlvit108 changed.
