Minutes of the Annual General Meeting
Attendees: Bernard Kershaw Chairman), Margaret Kearns (secretary), Julie Sharples (treasurer), David Hodgkinson, Pete Kearns, Jean Rigby, John Boulton, Alison Johnson, Mike Taylor.

Minutes of last AGM 16[th] May 2023. Margaret proposed, David seconded. Agreed.
Chairman’s Report:
The Chairman opened his remarks by thanking members of the Committee for their work and support and in particular the work of Margaret (secretary), Julie (Treasurer) and Mike (maintenance).
The Chairman stated that the during 2023/4 the Hall had again be used extensively by local groups and all the indication were that this would continue in 2024/5.
2023/4 was the first full year dealing with the massive increases in utility charges. Decision made to use reserves to offset the increase together with increases in hire charges had ensured that the price increases had been absorbed.
The Chairman made reference to the major refurbishment that was planned for late August 2024 with redecoration and fitting of new blinds.
Treasurer’s Report: The accounts were circulated and discussed. They had been certified by Bill Alston (auditor). In certifying the accounts the auditor had made reference to recently issued guidance by the Charity Commissioner regarding the level of reserves that should be held by charities. The Chairman stated that he would discuss the document with the Treasurer and report back to the Committee. John proposed accepting the accounts, Margaret seconded. The accounts were approved unanimously. Letter of thanks to be sent to Bill. The Committee expressed its thanks to Julie.
Review of hire charges
After a brief discussion it was agreed that the hire charges would remain unchanged but kept under review. Pam’s remuneration was agreed.
