**Group Review for Scout Group AGM 8[th] October 2025**

Since the last AGM, the sections have kept busy… a big thank you to all our adult volunteers. It is their hard work that makes all this possible.

Our numbers are steady compared to last year, with 40 young people on the books (not counting young leaders).

There is room for new members in the Scout and Beaver sections.

We also have room for more adults – we need to spread the load – you may not appreciate the mad activity that goes on under the surface!

These are just **some** of the activities covered….

## **Beavers**

**We did:** A sleepover with a Minecraft theme, Firework wall art, Health and fitness, collectors, creativity, safety, emergency aid badgework, cake baking, graffiti art and science experiments. We also attended St Georges Day.

**We learned about:** teamwork, all about hands and feet, saying thank you, working with nature for our Earth Tribe badge, mini-beasts, how to make fire, how to tie shoelaces, the planets, how the Alive Church helps the community

## **Cubs**

**We did:** A sleepover, digital badges, collectors & hobbies, communicator & disability awareness badges to name a few, a circus skills workshop, district trip at Arcade Warehouse and a camp at Altham Terrace with water activities and outdoor challenges.

**We learned about:** Chinese New Year, faiths and culture, the environment, UK parliament **We were visited by:** a dog trainer and our District Youth Lead, Hannah.

## **Scouts**

**We did:** some hikes, a board game night, bushcraft, cooking on open fires, a joint night with the 12[th] Lincoln at Altham Terrace, cooking on gas stoves, a movie night, attended St Georges Day, visited Chill Out at Walesby

**We learned about:** hike planning, navigation and maps, team building, knots, VE day, DIY and how to change a lightbulb, how to check car tyre pressures, how to lay out a campsite, American history,

A total of 298 badges have been awarded since the last AGM. Well done to all the young people for their hard work!

The Chief Scout Award is the highest award that can be earned in each section. We have some Chief Scout Awards to note this year: Bronze – Miles Davey; Silver: Aaron Evans and James Davey, plus the two being awarded tonight.

Thank you to all our adult volunteers, and the parents who help on occasion, and our young leaders: Max, George, Luca and just started, Alfie.

## **The Scout Hut**

I also want to thank all the volunteers who have helped to keep our Headquarters spick and span, inside and out. We do need help in this area – more people to join the team to help with the bookings and cleaning and maintenance. Our current team are getting older and we need younger volunteers to pass the baton to.

We do a lot of fundraising that helps to cover costs of running our Scout hut. A big thank you must also go to our other volunteers who help at our fundraisers. We couldn’t do it without them.

Our next fundraiser is the Jumble sale on 25[th] October and then the Christmas Fair on Saturday 29[th] November 2024.
