## **Chairman’s Report**

The Chairman reported that although there has been an increase in the Hall’s usage over the year, participation has not yet returned to pre-Covid levels. To compare our experience in Parbold with that in other village halls and to share good practice, Alan Barton organised visits for PCA members to the Barlow Institute in Edgeworth near Bolton, and to the Read Village Hall near Whalley.

Both visits proved enlightening and informative. Both Halls functioned as lively community centres, well supported by local groups who took ownership of the wide variety of activities offered. Both centres had well developed digital communication systems.

The PCA is in the process of incorporating some of the activities observed during the visits and drawing up a development plan to implement others. Our thanks to Alan Barton for arranging these visits.

The Newsletter continues to be an important link with the community and to attract business sponsors. Our thanks to the Linda Jones and to the volunteers who distribute the Newsletter.

Community Website development is planned and our thanks to Carol Littler for improving our Facebook presence.

The Sunday Markets continue to be successful supporting - as well as the PCA, other local groups such as Hilldale Community Association, The Methodist Church in Burscough and Dalton Cricket Club. Our thanks to Graham and Deborah Mcleod for their help in running the Sunday Markets.

The Coffee Morning started in March, meeting fortnightly and offering tea, coffee and cakes. This has proved very popular. From October provision was extended to include pre-ordered lunches. Our thanks to all the volunteers who run the coffee morning and who make the delicious cakes!
