The Lake District Search and Mountain Rescue Association is the umbrella body for the 12 rescue teams in Cumbria (UK). Its function is to represent the interests of and speak on behalf of the 12 rescue teams in the Lake District.

Objects: A. To Promote, Co-Ordinate And Secure Adequate Search And Rescue Arrangements In Cumbria. B. To Assist Elsewhere If Called Upon In Any Search And Rescue Operation. C. To Undertake Publicity Where Necessary In Order To Inform Or Educate The Public. D. To Promote Social Intercourse Between Teams, Provide Help, Guidance And Advice To The Membership And Have The Facility To Raise Funds At The Wishes Of The Membership.
