Secretary’s Report
The 2024-2025 year since the last Tockwith Sportsfield Trust Annual General Meeting has been another relatively quiet year as the Secretary, again possibly a good thing in that we are not breaking any rules or regulations and not causing any problems for our community. Between us, we have successfully managed the sports field facilities on behalf of the Parish Council and have continued to provide some good quality sport and recreation facilities for the local community. We continue to host the Tockwith Football Club, the Tockwith Bowls Club and Tockwith Juniors Football Club, we also hosted the Junior Football Camps, and Junior Football Finals unless I am mistaken. Sadly Ian Jackson, Ed Harrison, Helen Algar, Geoff Wilson, Justin Vaughan and Andy Dyason have resigned as Trustees for various personal reasons during the past year, and I would like to thank them for their work as Trustees. Thankfully a hardcore of many of our long serving Trustees remain, and I would like to welcome Tom Walker, representing Tockwith Juniors Football Club, and Debbie Cumming, representing Tockwith with Wilstrop Parish Council, as new Trustees. While it may have been another quiet year as the Secretary, I acknowledge that a great deal of work has been carried out by the Trust and Trustees, and some major improvements have been or are being made. Particularly the opening of the Multi Use Games Area, a fantastic new asset, refurbishing the decaying Tennis Courts, and adding to what I believe is an excellent sports and recreation facility for a village of our size. We have an on-line Booking System for the Clubhouse and MUGA, we have installed new windows and doors on the clubhouse, a security alarm on the tractor shed, a Tracker on the tractor, and a Sportsfield signpost. We have secured a North Riding County Football Association Pitch Maintenance Grant, and our Groundsmen have completed their Level 1 Groundskeeping Course. These may not seem a great deal until you realise the time and effort required to gain Planning Permission, to raise the necessary funds, to arrange the various contractors etc. Mike and Deryck have secured and continue to pursue Grant funding on our behalf, we have supported and contributed to the village Community Plan, This is on top of the ever ongoing maintenance of the sports field facilities and the unseen work that the Trustees have carried out to keep the facilities operating, such as the maintenance, repairs, upkeep and cleaning of the Clubhouse by Sue, Deryck and Dave, the cleaning of the chairs by Sue & Mike, the fantastic groundskeeping by Geoff and Rob, the essential groundskeeping equipment maintenance by Geoff, the hedge cutting and disposal of the scrap that I believe Rob has had a hand in, the drainage dyke clearing, Andy’s obtaining the Muga goalposts, and continued litter picking, the liaising with the resident Clubs, local councils, the North Ring County FA and other organisations, the list goes on. So I would like to thank the Officers, Mike as Chairman for continuing to drive us on, Andy Dyason as Vice-Chairman for his expert contributions, and Deryck for his hard work as Treasurer and managing to just about keep us solvent. I would like to thank all the User Group Representative and Members of the Public Trustees for all your hard work and contribution over the last year or so. You can be rightfully proud of the improvements you have helped to instigate, the facilities that you have helped to provide and the contribution you have made for our community and surrounding area.
