The trustees are pleased to present their report together wlth the financial ststements of the charlty for
the year ended 31st August 2024 .The trustees have adopted the wovisions of the Statement of
Recommended Practice (SORP} 'A¢￿UntIng and Reporting by Chartties" {FRS102) In preparlng the
annual report and financlal ststements of the tharity.
The fjnancial statements have been prepared in accordance wlth the accountlng poliaes set out in the
notes and comply with the tharity's govemlng document, the Charlties Art 2011 and Reporting by
Charities: SLitement of Recommended Practlce Applicable to charities preparlng thelr accounts in
accordan￿ wlth the Flnancial Reportlng standards applkable In the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS1021
{as applied to small entities by sectlon IA of the standard) (effective l January 2019).
The 8oard of Trustees are satisfied with the performance of the charity durlng the perlod and the
position at 31stAugust 2024 and consider that the tharlty Is In a posltlon to contlnue Its activities durin8
the coming year, and that the charlty's assets are adequate to fulfil it's obligations.

The HeTefoTd and WOr￿ter Dyslexla Assoclatlon (also known as HWDA). 23 Welland cl￿e, Droitwich,
Worcestershlre, WR9 8TX, is re8iStered with the Charity Commission (number 5048561

SRUCTURI GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
The Hereford and Worcester Dyslexla Association Is constituted as an Associatlon, and Is governed by a
constitution dated 24 May 2022.
The Trustees are selerted from membership at the Annual General Meeting of the Association.
The day to day running otthe Association is overseen by a management Committee that indudes the
trustees listed above and the membership and financial secretsry. The membership and financlal
secretsry administers the members of the Assodatlon as well as asslstlng the Treasurer and the
accountlng functlon.
Objectlves and A¢llvlties of the Charfty
The object of the Association is to advan￿ the eductalon of persons In the Hereford and WOr￿ter area
wlth Dyslexla. The trustees confirm that in planning the activities for the year, they kept in mind the
Charity Commlsslon's guldance on public beneflt at their trustse meetlngs.
The Association runs speciallst teachlng sesslons ("workshops") in Worcester, Hereford and Brom$8rove
for ¢hildren viith Dyslexla. Each of these workshops is overseen by a workshop SeniorTutor. In addition.
it offers its members Informatlon on all aspects of Dyslexia and advice on assessment and teachin& The
HWDA also runs two Parents Support Groups which offer drop4n sessions to offer support to parents
and deliver presentstions on relewdnt toplcs. The HWDA Is afflllated to the British Dyslexia Association.

RISK REVIEW
A risk review has been carrled out durlng the year and further rlsk revlews wlll be completed annually.
FINANaAL REVIEW
The management commlttee has establlshed a pollcy whereby the unrestricted funds not commltted
or Invested in tangible fixed assets ("the free reseNes"I held by the char5ty should be 3 months of the
resourw expended, whlch equates to £10,572 in general fund& At thls level. the management
committee feels that it would be able to contlnue the current activities of the charity in the event of a
slgnlficant drop in fundin& It would obviously be ne￿SSary to conslder how the funding would be
replaced or artivfties changed.
The total reserves at the 31st August 2024 were £47,792 {2023: £60,388). The balance held as
unrestriced Teserves at 31st August 2024 were £33,948 (2023: £36,641), which is all regarded as free

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity ("the TrusV) forthe

Responslbllltles and basls of ￿port
As the charlty's trustees, you are responslble for the preparation of the a¢￿Unts in accordan￿ wfth
the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ("the ACWI.
I report in ￿pect of my examination of the Trusys accounts carried out under section 145 of the
2011 Act and in carrylng out my examlnation, I have followed all the applicable Dirertlons glven by the
Charlty Commlsslon under section 145(5llb) of the Act.
8asl$ of Independent Examlnerfs report
My examination was carrled out In accordance with the General Dlrections given by the Charity
Commlsslon. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charlty and a
comparison of the accounts presented wlth those records. It also Includes conslderatlon of any
unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeklng explanatlons from you as trustees
concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would
be requlred In an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to vthether the accounts present a
'true and fair view, and the report is limited to those matters set out In the statements below.

I have completed my examlnation. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in
connection vAth the examination which gives me Cause to believe that in, any material respecL the

a: Basls of accountlnB and preparatlon
The charlty constltutes a publlc benefit entity as defined by FRS 102. The financial ststements have been
prepared in accordan￿ with the accountin8 pollcies set out In the notes and comply wlth the charlty's
governlng document, the Charities Act 2011 and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended
Practice Applicable to charitles preparlngthelr accounts In accordance wlth the Flnanclal Reporting
standards applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS102) (as applied to small entities by section IA of
the standard) {effective l January 20191.
These accounts have been prepared on a golng concern basls under the historical cost Convention wlth
items recognised at cost or tran￿ctIon value unless otherwise ststed in the relevant note{sl to these
accounts.
The finanaal statrements are prepared in sterling which Is the functional currenry of the charlty and rounded
to the nearest pound {£1.
The slgnlficant accountlng pollcles applled In the preparatlon of these financial statements are set out below.
These policies have been consistently applied to all years presented unless Otherwise ststed.
b: Funds
Unrestricted funds are available for use at the discretion of the trustees In furtherance of the general
objectlves of the charlty and whlch have not been desi8nated for other purposes.
Restrlrted funds are to be used In accordance wlth specific restrictions impo*d by donors or which have
been raised by the charity for particular purposes. The aim and use of each restrlcted fund Is set out In the
notes to the finanaal ststements
Endownment funds provlde income for ongoing support to the charity. Restrlctlons on use of the Income
from the endowmentfunds are set out In the notes to the financlal statements.

Income is included in the Statement of Flnancial Actlvftles {SoFA) when:
* the charity is entÉtled to the resources
* it is more likely than not that the trustees will re￿1Ve the resources and
* the monetsry value can be measured wlth sufficient ￿lIability
Grants and donations are only induded in the SOFA when the general Income reco8nltion criteria are met
15.10 to 5.12 FRS102 SORP}. The charlty VAII have been notlfied of the amounts and settlement date in

In the case of performance related grants, income must only be recognised to the extent that the charity has
provided the specified goods or servi￿$ as entitlement to the grant only occurs when the performance

Income from tradlng actlvltles includes earned income from fundralsln8 events and trading activities to
raSse funds for the charity. Income is re￿IVed In exchange for supplying goods and services in order to
raise funds and is recognised when entltlement has occurred
Investment In￿Me is earned on cash held on deposlL Interest is accounted forwhen re￿ived, as Is any
tsx recoverable on such income.
d: Expendlture
All expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basls. Expendlture ts recognised where it is more likely
than not that there Is a legal or construrtive obligation committing the charity to pay out resources and
the amount of the obligation can be measured with reasonable ￿rtaInty.
Costs of ralslnR funds comprise those costs direcdv attributsble to fund ralslnR events.
Indirect support costs which include Offi￿ and admlnlstratlon are allocated on the basis of a proportion of
direct costs
Support costs have been allocated between governance Costs and other support. Governan￿ costs
comorise all costs involvlno oubllc accountsbllitv of the ¢haritv and its comDIlan￿ wlth reRulation and
1￿coVerable VAT 15 charged as an expense agalnst the actlvlty for whlch expendlture arose.
Tangible fixed assets are ststed at cost (or deemed o)st) or waluatlon less accumulated depredation and
accumulated impalrment losses. Cost Includes costs dirertly attributsble to making the asset capable of
operatlng as intended.
