Objectives and activities
Ampleforth Village Hall provides facilities to the villagers of Ampleforth and
surrounding areas for the benefit of all inhabitants regardless of sex, sexual
orientation, age, disability, nationality, race, religion or political affiliation. The aim
is to improve the quality of life of all the village's inhabitants, including the young,
the old and people with disabilities
Structure, governance and management
The charty is operated under the rules of a Conveyan￿ of Trust, dated November
1975, which govems re-election of trustees, governan￿ of the hall including
financial reporting.
Trustee recruitment and appointment
Trustees are elected at the annual general m￿tIng which is usually held at the
end of May or June each year. All existing trustees must resign, and elections
carried (xrt to elect or re*lect committee members. The aim is to have members
of user groups on the committee as well as a member of the local parish council.
Achievements and performance
The village hall provides a library and jigsaw lending seNice to inhabitants
Weekly coffee mornings where people can socialise.
A chair exercise class as well as Yoga and Pilates classes now take place.
Local gardening club, historical society, the youth church
Winter Warm Spaces providing a bit of warmth and a square meal during
winter months once a week.
Craft sessions for senior members of the community.
Parish council
Polling station.
Christening events, wedding receptions, children's parties, and funeral
wakes.
Hall hire alone does not supply sufficient funds and special fund-raising events
such as concerts and pantomimes which benefit the local community and raise
revenue. These have enjoyed great success. Some money has been donated to
local causes.

Funding strategy
Events will continue to supplement hall revenue and woposed hall improvements
will be funded by grants and money provided by events
Financial position as at 31 March 2024
The acC￿ntS show a surplus of £7,172 for the year. (2023 - 2024), largely as a
result of hall improvement grants beiro recesved prior to the associated
expenditure beir¥J dispersed.
Future plans
Existing hall uses will be maintained as in the previous section to benefit the
community. Efforts will be made to grow the facilities the hall provides to gain
additional user groups
Over the past 2 years hall improvement programmes have been undertaken
including a new kitchen, replacement double glazing panels, roof insulation, new
guttering and external painting. Much of this has been paid for by various grants
and the hall's financial reserves. Further work will be undertaken in the next
financial year including refurbishment of the toilet areas, roof repair and updating
the hall's heating system if grants can be obtained to assist with the cost. The hall
requires new seating as existing seating is coming to the end of its useful life. The
building will require internal redecorating in the next two years
Statement of the charity's policy on reserves
Current reserves stand at £43,428. The Trustees aim to retain a minimum financial
resen4e of £15,000 to cover any unforeseen costs. Surplus funds of £23,300 will
be needed to cover the cost of the next batch of hall improvements. A further
£5000 will need to be set aside towards new seating for the hall.

Independent examiner's report to the trustees of Ampleforth Village
Hall for the year ending 31st March 2024
I report to the trustees on my examination of the of Ampleforth Village Hall for the
year ending 31st March 2024.
Under the charities Act the Trustees are responsible for preparing accounts in
accordance with Charities Act 2011. 1 report in respect of the charity's accounts
carried out under section 145 of the 2011 act
Independent Examiner's statement
I have completed may examination. I confirm that na matters have come to my
attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that:
1 . Proper accounting records were not made in accordance with the act
2. Accounts and accounting records didn't comply with the accounting
requirements of the act
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the
examination to which attention should be drawn.
