THE GERRY RICHARDSON TRUST ( A charitable Trust founded in 1974 by the Rotary Club of Blackpool North Registered Charity No 504413)
THE CHARITY OBJECTIVE
The Trust seeks to promote youth development by supporting young people, aged 25 or under, to attend courses and activities of an educational, cultural, sporting, adventuresome, or character building nature. It is willing to entertain written or Email applications for financial assistance from schools, youth organisations, and young people living or working within 15 miles of the Town Hall in Blackpool.
THE TRUSTEES’ ANNUAL REVIEW MARCH 2023
The total receipts were up this year by £40910. This was mainly due to two bequests, Maureen Richardson £40,000 and Tony Jo £676. There is still a continued need to seek for and increase our revenues, this is absolutely vital to ensure the Trust can continue to meet its requirements. In total 325 young people have benefited from the Trust this year.
Our grants are made under four headings or categories. Category 1 covers our Schools Subsidy Scheme whereby the Trust provides a percentage of the residential accommodation costs at outdoor education centres. During 2022/23 283 schoolchildren from 8 local schools benefited. Reports received from participants, teachers, governors and parents were very encouraging.. Included in category II is our Special schools Music Festival (SSMF) at Ribby Hall when special needs children perform before their parents and friends; we are all of the opinion that this was again the highlight of our year. Category 111 covers Youth Groups; two groups benefited this year. Seven individuals were assisted on projects abroad in category 1V. The Trustees are pleased to report that 20,225 children have benefited from the Trust since foundation.
