privilege for the fourth time in the year to chair the meeting.
Adrian congratulated Kirsty for flying solo for the past 13 months without vice chairmen and
remarked now was the time to elect a co-pilot, especially as Kirsty had travelled miles across
the county on an evening and had a young family to consider.

holds the role of Competitions Chairman and has supported me greatly in my new roles at
county.
Jed Reed as Cledales Chairman seconded Mel Guy. Jed stated that Mel had helped the district
and always has information, and an answer so would be a great aid to Kirsty.
There were no other nominations and following a show of hands, none against and no
abstentions, the motion was carried, and Mel Guy was duly elected.
Adrian congratulated Mel in her new role and also welcomed Georgina Hobson from Aire
Valley who has been elected as Chairman of the Promotions and Skills Committee.

YORKSHIRE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
7. To receive the President's Remarks- Adrian Willis, County President
President Mr Adrian Willis welcomed everyone to the Annual General Meeting and asked
everyone to stand to remember all those people we had lost this year and there followed a
one minutes silence. Adrian welcomed "young" Mr Barton to the meeting who is the longest
serving ex-President and in his 92nd year but still jets across the world to New Zealand, is still
an artive farmer at Stockeld Lodge.
Adrian stated his 12 months a President had been interesting and varied, he had got himself
into 'hot water, at Public Speaking, there were some fantastic results at County, Northern
Area, and National level. Rachel Nelson done a great job as NA Weekend Chairman, Mel Guy
and Joe Holmes as sub-committee chairmen had both done excellent jobs considering two-
thirds of the membership are under the age of 16 years. Adrian acknowledged it is difficult to
organise social events, and the Events, Finance and General Purposes Committee had done
well considering we started the year with a £27K deficit. Adrian praised Rachel Wilson as
Deputy President for organising the brand new Promotions & Skills Committee and thanked
Kirsty for soldiering on and for keeping everything in order. Adrian thanked all the Trustees
and Stephen Jarvis as Honorary Treasurer who are all wonderful people helping behind the
scenes. Adrian thanked Dash (Karen Wasden) as Field Development Officer for whizzing
about the county in her mini attending AGMS and completing DBS checks, Julie for running the
office and her love of paperwork and asked that members make more effort to reply to
requests. Adrian presented Kirsty, Rachel, Dash, and Julie with a bottle of prosecco.
Adrian also welcomed Stuart Robson, former NA President, and Alex Mcmenemy, NFYFC
Senior Member of the Year, both from County Durham YFC to the meeting who had been
asked to judge the Alan Goldie Trophy for the best in-age speech of the evening.
Adrian noted that members would be allocated 2 minutes to speak later in the meeting with
the proposer allocated 4 minutes and the right to reply. Adrian asked in-age members did not
speak twice and they queued up to speak to enable the meeting to flow easily.

16. To consider Resolutions:
Adrian reminded the room that the proposer Joe Holmes would have 4 minutes to propose
their motion and in-age members would have 2 minutes to respond. An online timer was
used for accuracy.
The following motions were discussed:
Motion: 'That the basic ley payable by Clubs and Districts to the Yorkshire Federation of
Young Farmers Clubs for the year 2024/2025 will be an increase of15%.
Motion 2: Tr3t the total levy payable by Clubs and Districts to the Yorkshire Federation of
Young will remain as a split of 75% payable by clubs and 25% payable by districts.
Motion 3: Th3t the basic lery payable by Clubs and Districts to the Yorkshire Federation of
Young Farmers Clubs wi// be a flat rate for all membership ages.
a) Affiliation Fees
Motion: 'That the basic levy payable by Clubs and Districts to the Yorkshire Federation
of Young Farmers Clubs for the year 2024/2025 will be an increase of 15% ,
Proposed by: Joe Holmes, Worth Valley YFC
Seconded by: Will Fawcett, Thirsk YFC
Joe explained the context of the motion stating that following covid there had been no
percentage increase in affiliation fees, but now with inflation it was time to increase the
fees to cover the large deficit and cut our costs. Joe stated that we need to invest in
committees and members which the federation had done by allocating £5K to member
expenses for NA Stockman, experted increase staffing costs with recruiting a new
safeguarding officer and additional administrator, the EF&GP Committee is contributing
£IK to the GYS Committee as we are threatened with losing the GYS Pavilion. Joe asked
that whichever side of the debate members are on, that they are passionate and get

involved. Joe stated there is a fairly big deficit to clear and proposed to increase affiliation
fees by 150/0. Will Fawcett seconded the motion.
Joe summed up that the affiliation fees increases would be:
Membership
Current County Fees
15 % increase County Fees
based on 1714 members.
£24.31
£36.46
£48.62
Juniors
Intermediates
Seniors
£21.14
£31.71
£42.28
Adrian asked for members to respond to the motion both in the room and by Zoom.
There were no questions or objections from members.
Ed Bentley, Ex Officio stated as Ex Chairman of Finance and Helmsley rep he can look at
both sides of the argument and would support tonight's motion as we made a loss last
year with staffing costs significantly reduced. Junior members create no income from dos
which is often the biggest source of income. Ed asked members to come forward with
their voices now but don't tittle tattle afterwards.
Adrian asked members for a show of hands and there was a poll on Zoom. The Tellers
reported: 15 % increase on affiliation fees - all in favour, with none against and I
abstention. Motion I was carried.
Motion 2: ' That the total lery payable by Clubs and Districts to the Yorkshire Federation of
Young Farmers Clubs will remain as a split of 75% payable by clubs and 250/0 payable by
districts:
Proposed by: Andrew Langthorne, Great Smeaton YFC
Seconded by: Will Fawcett Thirsk YFC
Andrew Langthorne proposed that the affiliation fees are split 75 % club and 25 % distrirt
for the reason that some districts are similar to Cledales where the clubs pay the fees, and
the district passes the bill onto them, but it still gives the distrirt the option to support
clubs by paying this amount. Will Fawcett seconded the motion.
Adrian asked members for a show of hands and there was a poll on Zoom. The Tellers
reported: Affiliation fee split 75 % club and 25 % district all in favour, with none against
and no abstentions. Motion 2 was carried.
Motion 3: ' That the basic lery payable by Clubs and Districts to the Yorkshire Federation
of Young Farmers Clubs will be a flat rate for 311 membership ages
Proposed by: Joe Holmes, Worth Valley YFC
Seconded by: Will Fawcett, Thirsk YFC
Joe Holmes asked members to consider motion 3 which had been explained in the
Affiliation Fees Discussion document and reminded the room of the unit breakdown:
Membership
15 % increase County Fees
based on 1714 members
£24.31 e
uates to l unit
£36.46 e
uates to 1.5 units
£48.62 e
uates to 2 units
Motion 3 Flat Rate
Juniors
Intermediates
Seniors
£81512 - 1722 members
£47.56 each.

Joe explained that under a flat rate members would be paying the same amount if they
were a junior, intermediate, or senior member. Joe noted that fees have been held
artificially low by some clubs. Joe asked that members get their voice heard and argue
against the motion if they did not like the flat rate.
Will Fawcett seconded the motion stating that he would like to move to a flat rate as the
seniors do more work and have to pay for it which is not fair for them.
Georgina Hobson on behalf of Aire Valley YFC implored other junior heavy clubs within her
district and around the county to vote against the flat rate system for calculating
membership fees and reminded the room that when we first transitioned to the unit based
system it's key focus was to support the smaller and junior heavy clubs who have fewer
resources for fundraising and rely heavily on parents to contribute. Georgina stated 62 %
of Aire Valleys membership is junior so this would only benefit a measly 16 % noticeably
and asked grassroots members to stand with her in rejecting the flat rate and stick with
the current unit system.
Ben Robinson, Tadcaster & Wetherby YFC supported the motion as junior receive the
same benefits, and as Club Chairman in his second term of office, he has had the best 14
years of YFC and the phrase is true, the more you put in, the more you get out of YFC.
Ben stated that the senior heavy clubs have to subsidise affiliation fees by fundraising with
lots of junior members it is difficult to put on events and remarked that clubs do not have
to charge the flat rate and can implement their own system at club level.
Rebecca Keay noted that at Stokesley YFC there are only 3 or 4 senior members with over
20 juniors and members are paying a relatively low price for Young Farmers. Rebecca
noted that the increased costs would be passed onto the club and whilst she did not
disagree with the flat rate concept, 150/0 increase and then if you are a junior club adding
the flat rate, her club could not stand that as they would struggle to fundraise, and she
would be voting against the proposal.
Katy Addyman, Knaresborough YFC stated that at the beginning of the meeting the County
President stated that two thirds of the membership are juniors, and Knaresborough has no
signed up senior members but 40 juniors and she worried if we dramatically increased the
fees to a flat rate. Katy stated that if senior members wanted to pay less, they should
take it back to club levels and she asked the room to consider the juniors and disagreed
with the motion.
Anna Booth, Rathmell YFC stated that she hoped members would join with Settle District
to vote against the flat rate and asked the members to look after the 65 % of junior
members. Anna reminisced of the great memories and life skills she had gained as a
junior and now as a senior it was time to give something back to YFC. Anna stated it
should be a privilege to encourage the juniors to get involved in public speaking,
stockjudging and competitions and we should not be selfishly considering how seniors can
pay less. Anna noted that an additional £IK fees would cripple Rathmell as they did not
have a rainy day fund and many of the smaller clubs had closed. Anna implored members
to give back to the organisation, care about the future of YFC and to vote to keep the unit
system.
Jed Reed, Thirsk YFC stated he was in favour of the motion, however he understood
everyone's points, especially Anna's. Jed stated that clubs need seniors to guide clubs
along, but they are laying out double what the juniors pay and end up babysitting. Jed
disagreed that seniors get more out of YFC as they are seeing a different aspect of YFC.

Jed stated that Cledales had tried to put on junior events and seniors are still supporting
district dos.
Amelia Fawcett, Rathmell YFC stated she wasn't going to speak this evening, and some
good points had been made and wanted to consider parents paying for fees, for more than
I child, sometimes 3 or 4 from the same family, whereas most of the senior members
work and can choose where to spend their money.
Dan Smith, Selby YFC, stated that their club comprised mainly of seniors however he
thought that Young Farmers is cheap in comparison to rugby, scouting, girl guides and at
£47.00 each, we are getting an absolute bargain and are arguing over nothing and noted
there would be no county without funding.
Charlotte Booth, Rathmell YFC urged members to vote against the flat rate stating that
members stating they are babysitting juniors is ridiculous and there is something wrong in
the club if this is the case as we have Club Leaders and parents to support up. Charlotte
reiterated the phrase "what you put in, is what you get out" and asked members to keep
the I, 1.5 and 2 units. Charlotte reminded the room of the amazing opportunities YFC can
give you such as the travel programme and competitions.
There were no further comments from members and Adrian asked Joe for his closing
statement.
Joe summed up the following.
Some seniors may stay on if we reduce their affiliation fees.
Ben reportedly that he has the best years of his life as a senior but with parents hounding
us there is no incentive to move up to be an officer.
Some members want a cheaper rate for seniors whilst others do not want to drain their
bank account and want to support juniors.
Adrian thanked everyone for their passionate speeches and asked members for a show of
hands and there was a poll on Zoom.
The Tellers reported: Move to flat rate:
In favour: 16
Against:
36
Abstentions: 6
Motion 3 was defeated. Adrian stated that the affiliation fees would remain as units, I
junior, 1.5 intermediate and 2 seniors, maintained for the next 12 months.
b) To confirm the 202412025 Charity Reserves Policy
Proposed by: Darren Coates, Trustee
Seconded by: Adrian Willis, County President
Darren Coates stated that the Charity Reserves is the backbone of the federation stating
that some of the funds are restritted and ring-fenced, and therefore proposed the
followin
ures:
Closed Clubs
Life Members Award Fund
General Develo
ment Fund

Adrian Willis seconded the proposed charity reserves.
All members were in favour unanimously of the Charity Reserves Fund and there were no
questions from the floor.
17. To announce the winner of the Alan Goldie Trophy
To announce the winner of the Alan Goldie Trophy for best contribution to debate at this
evening's meeting presented by Mr Stuart Robson, former President of County Durham YFC
and Miss Alex Mcmenemy, Senior Member of the Year from County Durham YFC.
Adrian thanked Stuart and Alex for judging the best speaker and invited them to present the
award. Stuart and Alex thanked everyone for their passionate speeches especially those
connected to debating motion 3, and they both agreed on the winner for his contributions
throughout the meeting, and not been phased when he ran out of words, and the trophy was
presented to Ben Robinson from Tadcaster & Wetherby YFC.
Ben accepted the Alan Goldie trophy, and the room rewarded him with a round of applause.
18. Any other Business
There was none.
19. To approve the date of the next Annual General Meeting - Friday 16th May
2025
Adrian Willis proposed to have the 2025 AGM on another Friday night in May as the evening
which was experimental had been successful as junior members do not have school the
following night and members can stay behind to celebrate. There were no objections, and
the motion was carried.
Adrian thanked all the contributors for a very emotional and interesting affiliation f￿ debate
which had resulted in a successful evening and wished all members good luck at the
upcoming County Rally. The older members were invited to stay behind and join the
President for a drink at the bar.
Meeting declared closed at 9.25pm.

COUNTY PRESIDENT
Adrian Willis
As I near the end of my 2 year appointment I feel that I can handover to my successor a stronger
Federation, with not just one but now two senior officers of the Federation, both of whom are in
membership age. That said, without the enormous efforts of Kirsty who as given unrivalled service to
our Federation none of this would have been possible. In all my time being involved in the running of
this organisation no one could have given more, 3 years as Chair, 5 years as Vice and 2 years as Ex-
officio with a third just starting, an unparalleled and hopefully unrepeatable feat; therefore, a huge
thanks to Kirsty. Not just that, but all three subcommittee Chairs are also in age members, the first
time for a while.
YORK
Aehi,
Out in our county at Club level, whilst we continue to have over 60 % Juniors, Club Officers ably assisted
by Senior members, Club Leaders and Advisory have learnt to adapt their offering to ensure that all
are welcomed and enjoy the YFC experience, so, a massive thanks to you all and whilst in support of
Kirsty I have had the privilege to visit many clubs, I must apologise for not getting to see you all.
Our District continue to do sterling work in support of not just their Clubs but also County by hosting
competitions and events, however it would be good to get more of you to participate in our
Committee's, most are available on Zoom which reduces the necessity to travel.
Further afield, your representatives have maintained regular attendance at both Area and Nationa5
meetings to ensure that your views are put forward, but as it's a democracy unfortunately other do
not always see YFC life from our point of view.
On the Competitions front, the County won the Tugs Wilson Trophy presented to Kirsty at the recent
Annual Meeting of Clubs, Anna Booth represented not just our County but also Northern Area in Senior
Member of the Year, Great Smeaton won the NFYFC Junior tug-of-war competition (a particular
highlight for me as a TOWA Judge) and we had many, many more successes too numerous to mention.
I have been privileged to visit and Judge at many District competitions, however the real outstanding
memory was last October at Ryedale's public speaking eliminators judging my favourite speaking
competition Brainstrust. Four young ladies from Kirkbymoorside entered the room and began; normally
I write copious notes to help with pointers at the end but haI￿aY through the first question I put my
pen down and just sat and listened to probably the best team I have ever heard, they were a joy and
at the end of the evening, they even did, at my request an exhibition question before the presentation.
This team, having qualified to represent YFYFC have now progressed through Northern Area to the
NFYFC final, nothing too remarkable about that except it was the first time any of them had ever done
Public Speaking! Good luck team.

There are many people I need to thank, my family who endure long periods of absence, the officer
team over the last 2 years and importantly Julie and the Staff team for all their hard work, but I save
my biggest thanks to you the Members for allowing me the privilege of being your President.

How time flies when you're having fun! I can t believe that another 12 months have gone by and
once again we are writing the annual report.
The Competitions Committee have once again been extremely
busy. We started out the year with the County Rally. Hundreds
of members new and experienced descended onto Thirsk
Auction Mart armed with a variety of white coats, tug of war
boots and an array of cookery and craft exhibits all hoping that
theirs would be chosen as the winner. It was fantastic to see
such a high standard of entries and the number of new
members that had turned up to compete. Throughout the rest
of the year, we have seen members competing in Public
Speaking, Bowling, and Clay Pigeon Shooting to name a few.
Thank you to all the clubs and districts that have hosted
competitions on behalf of County, and to everyone who has
given up their time to judge and steward, your help is much
appreciated.

The E,F&GP Committee has once again put on a set of fantastic
events for you the members to attend and enjoy. This includes our ever-popular County Quiz with
John Craddock and Ryan Howe atting as quiz masters. We once again saw members dancing the
night away at Club Amadeus at both the Christmas and Spring Dances.
Billy's Bingo returned to Boroughbridge and the Race Night held was a great success.
After the Bar and BBQ held after the Tug of War last year, the After Rally Do is returning this year.
As has been said repeatedly, the events can only be a success with member support, if not, our
Federation can't sustain itself. As with the competitions committee, E,F&GP want to put on the
events the Members want - let them know your ideas and make their efforts worthwhile.
The Promotion and Skills Committee has continued to establish itself looking at the training
opportunities offered to members and how we can further promote ourselves as a Federation.
Another successful Junior Activate Weekend was held and many Curve modules have been delivered
as club nights around the County. The Committee, working alongside the office and Rachel Wilson
have produced our 50th Anniversary Publication. Reading the reports reminds you of the amazing
things that have being going on up and down the County in the last year. Which wouldn t be possible
with the time and energy not only of the members but supporters of the Federation.
Hopefully, you ve been able to attend one of our fantastic celebration events for our 50th Anniversary
Year over the last 12 months. We started off with our Dinner Dance at York Racecourse which saw
nearly 400 past and present officers dancing the night away. In the summer we held our Church
Service and Afternoon Tea at Kirklington, thanks to John Craddock for organising and Lawkland YFC
members for serving the afternoon tea. Our final event to round off the year was the Carol Service
held at St. Andrew's Church, Aldborough. Once again it saw the coming together of our past and
present members alongside our sponsors who rounded off the night with mulled wine and mince
pies.
The County has been met with many challenges this year! Perhaps the biggest challenge the County
is facing is the lack of communication between members. In this time of email, social media, texting
as well as good old post and phone calls it seems we have too many forms of communication that
we're struggling to get all the information needed to every member.

Given that our current membership is very junior heavy we all need to work together to support our
clubs and districts. These members are the future of YFC and in a lot of cases have tsken on roles
with limited YFC knowledge. We do need to bear in mind that these roles are all voluntary and
involve a lot of hard work!
But this role is not all doom and gloom, it is a privilege to be Chairman of this outstanding
organisation and as a Young Farmer growing up, I never imagined I would take this role on (never
mind twice!)
I believe Young Farmers is there to enjoy whether to develop life skills, gain confidence or just
socialise and meet new friends, make the most of your time in Young Farmers. Have a go at
everything and leave with no regrets. One thing about Yorkshire Young Farmers is the positives do
always outweigh the negatives. Enjoy the crack but in the back of our minds aim to preserve YFYFC
for future generations. The more we all support each other and work together the stronger and more
enjoyable YFC will be for ourselves and future generations. That support and teamwork come from
our grass route members at clubs right through to our County Officers.
Finally, I'd like to say a few thank you's. Thank you to Julie and Liz in County Office, Simon our
Safeguarding and Member Welfare Office and Karen (aka Dash) who has been out and about as Field
Development Officer, for their support over the year. Thank you to all our sub-committee offficers,
President Adrian Willis, Honorary Treasurer Stephen Jarvis, Trustees Andrew, Darren & Paul, Deputy
President Rachel Wilson, and Vice Chairmen Mel Guy. Often, we forget about the things we don t
see, but it's that that allows this Federation to continue. Lastly, you the members, having visited
many of your clubs and districts during the past year, it is clear there are some exceptional members
out there. Take every opportunity that you get and make the most of your time as a YFC member.
This is an incredibly sad moment for me as I can t quite believe that after 10 years this is the final
time I will be writing as a member of the YFYFC senior officer team. Thank you for allowing me the
opportunity to be a part of this incredible organisation, including being your Chairman for the last
year. It has been an absolute privilege, and I have loved (nearly) every minute. If you ever need
anything from help stewarding to just having a chat, then please just ask. Good luck to your new
senior officer team - I'm sure they will be fantastic.

COMPETITIONS COMMIThEE REPORT
Anna Booth
The 50th year of Competitions at Yorkshire YFC,
What an honour to become Committee Chairman it was to me.
There've been many proud moments for all of us here,
Lots of enthusiasm, skill and prizes giving us much to cheer.
This time last year it was the County Rally at Thirsk,
Creativity in abundance and team spirit fit to burst.
When all was judged and done, it was Penistone that won,
But everyone who entered enjoyed the day and embraced the YFC fun!
Moving to the Summer, the Area and National Finals soon came around,
At Field Day, Dairy, Shearing, Sports, and Public Speaking lots of Yorkshire prize winners were
crowned.
For Northern Area Stockman, it was a trip across the sea,
The Isle of Man were great hosts and first overall were we.
At Tenbury Wells Yorkshire's 3 Tug of War teams did us proud,
Great Smeaton's winning Juniors making the sideline support all the more loud!
Finally, it was down to Malvern for the Cookery and Floral Art,
Amazing displays from all our White Rose members who took part.
All our National competition successes added up to a high points score,
With Yorkshire awarded the runners up Tug Wilson trophy and firmly knocking on Cumbria's door.
By this point, you'd think it might be time for a rest,
But no, the new year had started, and our Autumn Competitions once again saw members at their
best.

To Linton we went for the Rural Skills Day hosted by Upper Wharfedale,
Walling, orienteering, fencing, sheepdogs and luckily the weather wasn't blowing a gale.
Live and Carcase in October saw our tour around the County continue,
Hosted by Medcalf s at Halifax with a good turnout and quality stock to judge too.
From here, to the National Finals 24 members went forth,
Again, making us proud and bringing the overall trophy back up North.
In November, Wensleydale School were host to our Annual County Sports,
With lots of teams successfully taking part on the badminton, football, and netball courts.
Off-roading was enjoyed by all at the superb venue of Rudding Park,
I'm pleased to say the gators returned in one piece before it went dark!
The calendar year finished with Christmas Bowling at Selby,
Teams in the festive spirit but more people next year we'd love to see.
After Christmas it was the return of the Annual Public Speaking,
Harrogate High School providing great facilities and a warm greeting.
Once again excellent standards with members never ceasing to amaze,
Congratulations to winners Craven and all participants who too deserve high praise.
In the afternoon we were treated to performances in cheerleading and a ballroom demonstration,
The entertainment value from all involved was certainly met with audience elation.
From this day we travelled over the hill to Lancashire's Northern Area Weekend,
More fantastic results and National qualifiers with our members, achievements becoming a common
trend.
In the meantime, it was to my home District for County Stockman of the Year,
A pleasure to host you all in Settle and see so many there.
Rally competitions have started early this year with Thirsk Auttion lacking safe walls or hills,
So back to Lawkland and Settle it was in March for the fell running and stone work skills.
We've ended the year with the recent Clay Pigeon Shoot, popular without doubt,
Hosted at Low Kettlespring, members and advisory alike enjoyed this fun day out.
Going forward, County Rally plans are in full swing,
If entries so far are anything to go by, members are in for a busy rest of the Spring.
As ever, I'm sure we'll be impressed,
I'd like to wish all taking part success and the very best!
For our Yorkshire qualifiers, good luck too,
The Area and National Finals will soon be upon you,
You've already done yourselves and Clubs proud,
So, smile, enjoy the honour and I look forward to being there in the crowd!
With our year complete and much anticipation about the upcoming fun,
I'd like to end this with some thank you's for all that's been done.
Whether a judge or steward, sponsor, or host,
For your kind assistance and support we owe the very most.
We're grateful to all who've helped in any way,
It really has made each and every competition day.

IJID
I must also share huge appreciation for the County Office team and our wider Committee Reps too,
You've shared ideas, helped organise and made long meetings easier to get through.
To my Vice-chairs and friends, Lizzy, and Henrietta,
I'm so grateful for your support and couldn't have wished for better.
Lastly, to you the members of the Districts and Clubs who've taken part and had a go,
You've turned up with high standards, embraced every competition and really put on a show.
Keep entering, practising, and enjoying your YFC Competitions time,
I hope you have fun, learn, and achieve but for now, it's the end of my rhyme.
Here's to the 51st Year of Competitions at Yorkshire YFC,
Let's keep working together and what a team we will be.

EVENTS, FINANCE AND GENERAL PURPOSES COMMIThEE REPORT
Jack Smith
What a year it has been, celebrating 50 years of the Yorkshire Federation of Young Farmers, Clubs.
Firstly, I'd like to say a few thank you's. To start, I would like to say thanks to our Ex-chairman Joe
Holmes who has played a major part in the team that has made this year such a successful year. I'd
like to go on to say thank you to Julie in the office and the rest of the team for the vital support and
guidance they have given throughout the year.
Now to the events:
We started the year with our annual Spring Dance at Club Amadeus, which as always was a great
success.
This then led onto the 50th Anniversary Dinner Dance held at the York Racecourse. Well, what a night
it was with 398 people attending of all ages include in-age and ex-members from throughout the
county. It was a lovely way to kick start the year and get everyone together and from this we
managed to raise about £3000 from the night, which is fantastic. However, none of this would have
been possible without the tremendous efforts of Rachel Wilson and Kirsty Chapple, so for this I'd like
to give them special big thank you.
',J<lJ
Moving on from this we held the new County Rally BBQ which despite the weather not been on our
side and reducing the grass area to a swamp we continued. But putting the ground conditions aside
we managed to have an entertaining afternoon of watching tug of war, prize giving and socialising
making it a wonderful way to round up a fun day of competitions.
Q or

After this we hosted our 50th Anniversary Afternoon Tea and Service of Celebration at Kirklington,
Bedale. This was a lovely afternoon and was great to see so many of our older past members coming
together to support us and see old friends.
Once again, we ran the Quiz Night at The Anchor Inn at Whixley and another successful evening.
Hosted by the great Quiz Masters John Craddock and Ryan Howe, we managed to raise £988.82
from tickets and a raffle.
Following this we head back to Club Amadeus for another great Halloween Dance which this year we
did jointly with Cledales District.
Now coming to the end of the year, we warmed up the mulled wine and mince pies and headed to
our 50th Anniversary Carol Service at Aldborough Church, where a congregation of members past,
present and non-members attended our service. We enjoyed an evening of Christmas carols and
seasonal readings from our members. I'm happy to report that from the evening we managed to
raise £394 from the collection which was equally split between St. Andrew's Church and Martin
House Children's Hospice.

For the final event of the year, we made one last trip to Club Amadeus for the Christmas Dance
which was the biggest night of the year with 1020 guests through the doors.
With that, the year of 50th Anniversary Celebrations are over, and from myself, and the committee
we would like to say thank you to everyone that has attended, supported, or sponsored these
events, because without everyone we could not do it. As a committee we look forward to seeing you
all next year for another great year of events.

PROMOTIONS AND SKILLS commI￿EE REPORT
Georgina Hobson
The last 12 months have been packed full, with the committee developing new training courses and
events along with planning our already existing training calendar alongside creating and updating all
of our county promotional products.
We kicked off the membership year in Ottober with a successful 2 day Junior Activate Weekend at
Carlton Lodge, we then spent a huge amount of time working on the 50th Anniversary publication
which went out earlier this year, which without the dedication from Rachel Wilson as well as Julie
and Liz in the office, it would not have been possible, so a huge thank you goes to them.
We have also been taking feedback from clubs and districts regarding training and references which
we have been working on developing districts and club officer training as well as updating our
meeting ideas reference booklet.
Alongside this we have been working closely with the Competitions Committee to develop
competition training for Live and Carcase and Public Speaking which we hope to be rolling out prior
to the 2025126 competition year. We, as a committee, are really keen to deliver the ready-made club
nights and are potentially looking to put a few more people through Nationals Train the Trainer
programme so we can best serve every corner of our county when we are able to do so.
I would like to thank my Vices and the committee members for their continued support and helping
push forward this year with this newly established committee. And finally, I would like to thank Holly
and Philippa for their participation in this year's Sue Ryder Mascot Gold Cup running as Suzie Sheep
and Freda the Friesian.

GREAT YORKSHIRE SHOW COMMIThEE REPORT
Cieran Imeson
Last year's Great Yorkshire Show was a jammed pack one with plenty happening on the stand. With
being GYS Chairman for the first time, it was a great experience.
On Tuesday afternoon we celebrated 50 years of Yorkshire Young Farmers with an Afternoon Drinks
Reception. Prosecco was flowing and people enjoyed the strawberries and cream tea we provided.
During this afternoon, we presented Max Robinson with his trophy that he had won from the Stock
Judging competition we held in June. This is a new trophy to also commemorate the 50th years of
Yorkshire FYFC.
During the week we had three charities on the stand; these were Papyrus, Inspire Youth and Yellow
Wellies. Alongside the charities we had a caterer for the first time for a while. This was
Lottie Loves who was serving hot steak sandwiches. This brought plenty of people onto the stand.
We had the popular game of nail bashing and ring the bull kindly provided by The Eskdale District.
Your Harrogate Radio had a tractor on the stand and provided plenty of coverage for Young Farmers
during Great Yorkshire Show week.
As mentioned last year's Great Yorkshire Show had been very successful with plenty of people on the
stand and lots going on. We look forward to next year's show.

Accounting policies (¢ofttlnued)
Incoming resources
All incoming resources are included in the siatemenl of financial activities whell enlitlemenl has
passed to the charity., it is probable that the economic benefits associated with the transaction
will flow to the charity and the amount can be reliably measured. The following specific policies
are applied to particular categories of income..
income from donations or grants Is recognised when there is evidènce of entitlement to the
gift, receipt is probable and its amounl can be measured reliably.
legacy income is recognised when receipt is probable and entitlement is established.
income from donated goods is measured al the fair value of the goods unless this is
impractical to measure reliably, in which case the value is derived from the cost to the donor
or the estimated resale value. Donated facilities and services are recognised in the
accounts when received if the value can be reliably measured. No amounts are included for
the contribution of general volunteers.
income from contracts for the supply of services is recognised with the delivery of the
contracted service. This is classified as unrestricted funds unless there is a contractual
requirement for it to be spent on a particular purpose and returned if unspent, in which case
it may be regarded as restricted.
Resources expended
Expenditure is recognised on an accruals basis as a liability is incurred. Expenditure includes any
VAT which cannot be fully recovered, and is classified under headings of the statement of
financial activities to which it relates-.
expenditure on raising funds includes the costs of all fundraising activities, events,
non<haritable trading activities, and the sale of donated goods.
expenditure on charitable activities includes all costs incurred by a charity in underiaking
activities that further ils charitable aims for the benefit of its beneflciaries, including those
support costs and costs relating to the governance of the charity apportioned to charitable
activities.
other expenditure includes all expenditure Ihat is neither related to raising funds for the
charity nor part of its expenditure on charitable activitie5.
All costs are allocated to expenditure categories reflecting the use of the resource. Direct costs
attributable lo a single activity are allocated directly to that activity. Shared costs are apportioned
beiween the activities they contribute to on a reasonable, justifiable and consistent basis.
Tangible assets
Tangible assets are initially recorded at cost, and subsequently stated at cost less any
accumulated depreciation and impairment losses. Any tangible ass8ts carried at revalued
amoun15 are recorded al the fair value al the date of revaluation less any subsequent
accumulated depreciation and subsequent accumulated impairment losses.

Tangible assets (continued)
An increase in the carrying amount of an asset as a result of a revaluation, is recognised in other
recognised gains and losses, unless it reverses a charge for impairment that has previously been
recognised as expenditure within the statement of financial aclivilias. A decrease in Ihe carrying
amount of an asset as a result of revaluation. is recognised in other recognised gains and losses,
except to which it offsets any previous revaluation gain, in which case the loss is shown within
other recognised gains and losses on the statement of financial activities.
Depreciation
Depreciation is calculated so as to write off tho cost or valuation of an asset, less its residual
value, over the useful economic life of that asset as follows..
Equipment
20 /0 Straight line
lrnpairment of fixed assets
A review for indicators of impairment is carried out at each reporting date, with the recoverable
amount being estimated where such indicators exist. Where the carryin9 value exceeds th6
recoverable amount, the asset is impaired accordingly. Prior impairments are also reviewed for
possible reversal at each reporting date.
For the purposes of impairment testing, when il 15 not possible to estimate the recoverable
amount of an individual asset, an estimate is made of the recoverable amount of the
cash-generating unit lo which the asset belongs. The cash-generating unil is the smallest
identifiable group of assets that includes the asset and generates cash inflows that largely
independent of the Gash inflows from other assels or groups of assets.
For impairment testing of goodwill, the goodwill acquired in a business combination is, from the
acquisition date, allocated to each of the cash-generating units that are expected lo benefit from
the synergies of the combination, irrespective of whether other assets or liabilities of the charity
are assigned lo those units.
Stocks
Stocks are measured al the lower of cost and estimated selling price less costs to completa and
sell. Cost includes all costs of purchase, costs of conversion and other costs incurred in bringing
the stock lo ils present location and condition.
Financial instruments
A financial asset or a financial liability is recognised only when the charity becomes a party to the
contractual provisions of the instrument.
Basic financial instruments are initially recognised at the amount receivable or payable including
any related transaction costs.
Current assets and current liabilities are subsequently measured al the cash or other
consideration expected to be paid or received and not discounted.
Debt instrumonls ar8 subsaquently measured at amortised cose.

Financial Instruments (continuedj
Where investments in shares are publicly traded or their fair value can otherwise be measured
reliably. the investment is subsequently measured at fair value with changes in fair value
recognisgd in income and expenditure. All other such investments are subsequently measured al
¢051 less impairment.
Other financial instruments, including derivatives, are initially recognised al fair value, unless
payment for an asset is deferred beyond normal business terms or financed at a rate of interest
that is not a market rate, in which case the asset is measured at the present value of the future
payments discounted al a market rate of interest for a similar debt instrument.
other financial instruments are subsequently measured at fair value, with any changes
recognised in the statement of financial activities, with the exception of hedging instruments in a
designated hedging relationship.
Financial assets that are measured at cost or amortised cost are reviewed for objective evidence
of impairment at the end of each reporting date. If there is objective evidence of irnpairment. an
impairment loss is recognised under the appropriate heading in the statement of financial
activities in which the initial gain was recognised.
For all equity instruments regardless of significance. and other financial assets that are
individually significant, these are assessed individually for impairment. Other financial assets are
either assessed individually or grouped on the basis of similar credit risk characteristics.
Any reversals of impairment are recognised immediately. to the extent that the reversal does not
result in a carrying amount of the financial asset that exceeds what the carrying amount would
have been had the impairment not previously been recognised.
