This past year has been a significant milestone for 11th Nuneaton Scout Group, with the establishment of the group’s first Squirrel Drey in January 2025.

In our first term we welcomed twelve enthusiastic Squirrels who have been regularly attending meetings, contributing to a vibrant and engaging atmosphere.

## • Scouting Report

• We prepare young people with skills for life

The group has had the pleasure of hosting visits from local police officers, providing an invaluable opportunity for the Squirrels to learn about the role of the police in our community.

Additionally, we were fortunate to have visits from the leaders from other sections to teach us about the group. 10 Squirrels attended the groups 75th Anniversary Camp taking part in activities to help them learn about the history of the group. Clemmie, our youngest squirrel represented us by cutting the 75th Birthday cake.

- Annual General Meeting 2024 – 2025, held 19[th] July 2025

Throughout the year, we held a variety of meetings that focused on different themes and activities. We had a varied programme with crafts, games and reading activities. The year also saw educational themes during events like Ramadan and Chinese New Year, as well as creative activities such as the “Valentines Day Kindness Crafts.” Other meetings centred around learning about the community through our “People who Help Us” theme and the corresponding card-making session. We were able to earn our first badge – Let’s Celebrate and are looking forward to earning more badges over the coming terms. We also marked significant moments such as the groups “75th Birthday Celebration”. We held our first investiture party – with all 12 Squirrels and 5 leaders making their promise.

As we reflect on the past year, it's essential to express our gratitude to all leaders from other sections who have helped with the set up of the Squirrel section and have generously offered their advice, shared their hints and tips, and supported our meetings. A special thank you goes to Chris, Jonathan, Karen, and Cara for their invaluable contributions to our success. Thank you to Ted and Lucie , our young leaders for your enthusiasm and support with the Squirrels.

Looking ahead, we are eager to build on the success of our first term with even more enjoyable activities and outings planned for the future. The anticipation of these upcoming experiences reflects our commitment to providing a welcoming and invigorating environment for all.

Finally, I would like to take a moment to thank all the Squirrels for their energy and enthusiasm, which make each meeting enjoyable for the leaders. We look forward to another wonderful year in Scouting as we continue to grow and learn together.

- Annual General Meeting 2024 – 2025, held 19[th] July 2025

This past year has been another busy period for Tuesday Scouts, with a range of engaging activities and events as usual. Highlights include a thrilling murder mystery games night, Frisbee Golf in Bedworth, Hiking to Hinckley, a photography badge workshop, physical challenges like the bleep test, as well as practical skills sessions on knots, stoves and cooking, ensuring a well-rounded experience for all Scouts involved. In December we held a big Christmas Meal.

Throughout the year we successfully held several overnight events. District Camp, Summer Camp, our Autumn Hike, a Christmas Film Sleepover and our Winter Camp in Wales. All these events contributed not only to our Scouts’ skills and confidence but also created lasting memories for everyone.

In terms of leadership we have been low on numbers, so a special mention goes to Gary for his invaluable support throughout the year, and thanks to Danny and Own for their help too. We'd also like to acknowledge the parents who contributed through our parent rota, allowing our activities to run smoothly and effectively.

Unfortunately we said goodbye to Leader Joe, who left in April for his new house in Kidderminster. . His contributions have been greatly appreciated, and he will be missed.

Finally, a massive well done to Zak and Daniel, who completed their Gold Chief Challenge.

Over the past year, the Explorers have had an engaging and varied programme of activities. From a spin class at the Pingles, which tested everyone's fitness, to an enlightening visit to the Nuneaton Heritage Centre, where we discovered fascinating insights into our local history, there has certainly been a rich variety of experiences. A particular highlight was the snorkelling and scuba diving session arranged by Tim through the Leicestershire Scouts sub-aqua unit. Our explorers also enjoyed our annual visit to Stonebridge Golf Club's driving range, where we also got to try out their new adventure golf course. We also visited a farm in Meriden during March lambing and most of us got to hold a newborn lamb. Ice skating and laser quest events offered fun ways for the group to bond with other explorers in the district.

The past year also saw numerous meetings that catered to different interests. We had sessions focusing on emergency aid training, navigation skills, and preparing for adventures with fire lighting workshops. The excitement of games night was complemented by a silent disco, while an evening with PCSO Lou Rose helped foster community connections. Other meetings included board games, climbing, badge reviews, and planning for events such as St George's Day.

The Explorers also took part in several camps. District Camp was a three-day adventure where members connected and built friendships, while our Summer Camp provided a week full of activities and memories, while the recent Winter Camp allowed us to enjoy a great walk in the early Spring sunshine.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the leaders for their dedication and hard work over the past year. A special thank you to Tim for his efforts in organising the snorkelling and scuba diving, as well as to Aaron for coordinating visits from PCSO Lou Rose and the florist who taught us how to arrange a luxury bouquet, both provided valuable learning experiences for the group.
