The Beavers have had another fantastic year. We have continued to grow in numbers as we saw some of the Squirrels continue their journey in scouting by moving up to Beavers. We have also welcomed another 10 children into the group.
Throughout the year we have been busy working towards many badges the sports challenge and world badge to name a few.
Many of the Beavers took part in a sleepover at the hut where we learnt all about the planets and got to see Venus and the Moon through Bob’s telescope.
Many of the Beavers took part in Remembrance Day parade and later in the year we paraded around Ormskirk for St George’s day.
At all our meetings the Beavers have taken part in a variety of games. They have also had the opportunity to take part in some craft activities. They designed their own kilts and made cards for Mother’s Day.
Many Beavers took part in the group camp and for many this was their first night away from home. They enjoyed taking part in archery and an Easter egg hunt.

9[th] Ormskirk Operate 2 Cub packs Wednesday and Thursday nights.
Wednesday Cubs
Hi Everyone
Our pack has doubled to 13 Cubs this year, which we are very happy about. We have a lovely team of leaders, in Andrew, Steph, and myself. We also have our great young leader Joseph, and have a new young leader starting after the Easter break.
We have sent two of our Cubs up to Scouts, having both earned their Chief Scout’s Silver.
We have completed activities on fire safety, backwoods cooking, making our own fortune cookies and learning knots, to name but a few. The Cubs have done some of the sewing of their own badges on too, with a little help.
We took a great trip on the train into Ormskirk and walked back. We learned about rail safety and had some exercise too.
We had a visit from students from Edge Hill who did a great workshop for the Cubs using their imagination to express themselves through storyboards and storytelling, for their coursework.
We also had a visit from the Canal and River Trust, who taught our Cubs about all things water safety.
We are looking forward to another year of fun and growth.
Toni.

Nomads have had another cracking year with members now at 23.
We've played golf, gone hiking, roller skating, ice skating, go karting, laser tag, backwoods cooking, bake off, skiing and much more!
We've also made collections for the local food bank and had a talk on knife crime as well as first aid training when dealing with a knife/ puncture wound.
We've attended Mersey Moot, had our annual I'm A Nomad Get Me Out Of Here! camp with the next one scheduled for October.
We've also had 6 bronze DofE Awarded, 8 silver expeditions and 4 plus 1 from another county completing DofE gold expedition..
A brilliant year with another one ahead.
I would like to thank you for all the support we receive as an Explorer Unit within the 9th Ormskirk family.

Another successful year for Scouting and Financial activities.
Subscriptions were raised to £10 per month and membership numbers are increasing thus leading to an increase in income - there is a knock-on effect whereby Income from ‘Gift Aid’ will also increase.
The accounts are prepared on monies actually received and actual payments made during the accounting period in question 1[st] April 2023 to 31[st] March 2024. Monies are collected and paid out in advance of activities taking place during the next accounting period and are thus ‘ring fenced’ see notes 2 and 3.
Thus, our healthy useable balance is in the region of £20,000 (still no pay raise for Leaders).
However I am conscious that it may be necessary to subsidise the Headquarters finances at some time in the future and also we need to develop the two garages into more secure useable buildings.
