ACCOUNTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30[th] APRIL 2025
Annual Report as at 30[th] April 2025
List of Trustees
Sheila Mary Powney, Chair John Hiley, Artists Secretary Avril Margaret Hallam, Treasurer Rosemary Howell, Secretary David Smethurst David Telford Reed Elizabeth Moreton
The Charity operates under a constitution with the object of fostering the appreciation of music in the County of Cumbria. The management of the Club is carried out by the Trustees, listed above, on a voluntary basis. The Chair of the Trustees is Sheila Mary Powney. Four committee meetings were held during thee year.
During the year thirteen concerts were held at Kendal Town Hall. One concert was for children from local primary schools, free of charge.
Funding for the concerts is obtained from the general public, either by way of purchasing season tickets at the start of the season or by buying tickets on the day of the concert. Funds are also obtained through our Patrons Scheme. All monies are used to pay artists’ fees, to maintain the Steinway Grand Piano, owned by the Club, insurance, printing, hire of the Assembly Room and general administration expenses. This year we ran at a loss.
Savings of £107,502 held in CCLA Management Ltd Charity Fund are to enable the Club to purchase a new Steinway Piano when needed but also from this fund we donate to local organisations to foster appreciation and learning of music. Also held by CCLA is a separate account called Dr Margaret Jackson and Mr Derrick Johnson Memorial Fund, valued at £57,534 this is used to encourage appreciation of music for the young by providing concerts for school children each year.
It is hoped that the Trustees will be able to continue providing high standard concerts in the future for the people of Cumbria.
