## **KENDAL MIDDAY CONCERT CLUB**

## **Annual Report of 30[th] April 2024**

List of Trustees:

Sheila Mary Powney, Chair John Hiley, Artists Secretary Avril Margaret Hallan, Treasurer Rosemary Howell, Secretary David Smethurst David Telford Read Elizabeth Moreton

The Charity operates under a constitution with the object of fostering the appreciation of music in the County of Cumbria. The management of the Club is carried out by the Trustees, listed above, on a voluntary basis. Three Committee meetings were held during the year. The Chair of the Trustees is Mary Powney.

Twelve concerts were held during the year at Kendal Town Hall. A profit of £1,099 was made and all artists were engaged by Dr John Hiley, Artists Secretary.

Principal funding sources are the general public, either by purchasing annual season tickets at the start of the season or buying tickets on the day of the concert. Funds are also obtained through a Patrons’ Scheme. All monies are used to pay artists fees at the concerts, maintenance of the Steinway Piano owned by the Club, insurance, printing, hire of the Assembly Room at Kendal Town Hall and general administration expenses.

Savings of £10,232 are held by Janus Henderson High Interest Fund Shares Class A (Inc) and £113,857 is held in CCLA Management Ltd Charity Fund. These savings are to enable the Club to purchase a new Steinway Piano when the time comes and in the future to give grants to suitable musical charities in Cumbria to foster the musical education of young people. £47,507 is also held by CCLA in a separate account, entitled Dr Margaret Jackson and Mr Derrick Johnson Memorial Fund. This money is used to encourage the appreciation of music for the young by way of providing a concert for school children each year.

It is hoped that the Trustees will be able to continue to provide high standard concerts in the future for the people of Cumbria.
