Twelve concerts were held during the year to 30[th] April 2023. A profit of £453 was made and all artists were engaged by Dr John Hiley, the Artists’ Secretary.
Principal funding sources are the general public who purchase season tickets or tickets at the door. Funds are also obtained through the Patrons Scheme and donations from the public. All monies are used to pay artists fees, maintenance of the Steinway Piano owned by the Club, insurance, printing of programmes, hire of the Assembly Room and general administration expenses.
Savings of £103,835 held in CCLA Management Ltd Charity Fund and £9,344 in Janus Henderson shares are mainly a sinking fund to purchase another Steinway Piano and to further promote music appreciation in the County. The account entitled Dr Margaret Jackson and Mr Derrick Johnson Memorial Fund, valued at £45,791, also held in CCLA, is used to encourage appreciation of music for the young of Cumbria by way of providing concerts for school children each season.
It is hoped that the Trustees will be able to continue to provide high standard concerts in the future for the people of Cumbria.
