KENDAL MIDDAY CONCERT CLUB

Annual Accounts to 30[th] April 2022

List of Trustees: Sheila Mary Powney, Chair John Hiley, Artists Secretary Avril Margaret Hallam, Treasurer Rosemary Howell, Secretary David Smethurst David Telford Reed Elizabeth Moreton

The Charity operates under a Constitution with the object of fostering the appreciation of classical music in the County of Cumbria. The management of the Club is carried out by the Trustees, listed above, on a voluntary basis. Three committee meetings were held during the year. The Chair of the Trustees is Sheila Mary Powney.

16 concerts were held during the year, four more than usual because the Covid Pandemic was rampant in the year to 30[th] April 2021 and only four were held during that year. A loss of £7838 was made. All artists were engaged by Dr John Hiley, Artists Secretary.

Sources of funding the concerts are the general public, through ticket sales, through the Patrons Scheme and donations from the public. All monies are used to pay artists fees, maintenance of the Steinway Grand Piano, owned by the Club, insurance, printing, hire of the Assembly Hall at Kendal Town Hall and general administration expenses.

The Trustees hold savings, under the title of Steinway Replacement Fund, of £104,126 in CCLA Management Ltd Charity Fund. Now that a new Steinway Piano Model D Grand has been purchased, the Committee are looking for suitable ways to spend some this money. Also held by CCLA is a separate account in the name of Dr Margaret Jackson and Mr Derrick Johnson Memorial Fund, valued at £45,063. This fund is used to encourage appreciation of classical music for the young of Cumbria by way of providing concerts for school children each year.

It is hoped that the Trustees will be able to continue to provide high standard concerts for the people of Cumbria in the future.
