1. Constltutlon
The Charity was registered with the Charity Commisslon on 19th February 1973. It is govemed by its
Constitution. Tho League of Friends, aims, objectives and a¢tlvltles are set out in this Twstees. Report.. Its
main aim is to support th8 charitabla work of the Ellesmere Communty ca￿ Centre together with supporting
other groups and people wlthin Ellesmere.
2. Method of appolnting Trustees
The method of appointsng Tnjstees accords with the aims and objectives of the Charity. Twstees tend to
serve for long periods, only resigning when leaving the area or when orcumstancps cf increasing age
event them from continuing with their responsibilities. This long serv1￿ brings friendships within the
League of Friends and the Ellesmere community.
The Chaim)an and the Committee are awpre of the need for appolntlng new Truslees from tlrne to tlme and
always have in mind the importance of nominatlng members possesslng qualities of reliability, sound
judgement. integrity and cornmitment together with skllls necessary for the overall effectiveness of the group.
They are usually people who have shown the deduction and commitment by offerlng thelr seNlces or
expressing a wish to help in other ways. Ellesmere is a dose knlt communlty and tt would be unusual for
someone to be nominated who is not already well known in the committee.
The aim is to elect Trust8es who show dedication to the League of Friends, principles and eth05 whi18t
promoting and sustsining a committee comprising members of varying ages. skills and experience arld
willing to devote the necessary time and commitment to the League.

The maln alm of the League of Frlends, charlty Is to support the ser¥lces provided by the Ellesmere
Communlty Care Centre, the day ¢are patlents and the adult leamlng dlsabllltles group together wlth others
in the communlty needlng Its fa¢Jiltles. bulldlngs and equlpment.
For the purpose of carrying out the above the League is committed to-
(a) Informing the public of the y￿rk of the Communty Care Centre and to generate. en￿urage, foster and
maintain th8 inter8St and support of th8 public.
(b) Raising funds and inviting aTrJ receiving conthbutions from any person or persons or organisatton by way
of subscrrption. donation or otherwise.
{c) Supplementing the Services providod by the Ell8smero Community Care Centrg for the health, welfare
and CDmfDrt r8quir8d foTth8 tr8alm8Trt of day care patients aThJ c)theT patients in Ihe communty.
(d) Supporting the provision of facilities. helplng to malntaln the buildlng and other equipment whlch may be
requlred for treatment or for the efficient running of the Community Care Centre.
(e) Providing or assisting in th8 provision of am8nities for the Community Care Centre patients and staff.

The charlty shop has shown a continued iniprovement in performance with a pleasing incr8ase in tumover of
nearfy 15%. The temporary dosure of i)ne of the town's other charity shops may have contrlbuted to this.
but the League Df FTiends' remains enrouraged ty 8LWOrt shown for its shop from those wlthln the toTh
and also regular vlsltors from liuth8r afi8ld. Th8 success of the L8agu8 of Frl8nds charlty shop seems to
come from a combination of the generosity of the community of Ellesmere, the dedication of the volunteers
and the reputallon of the shop withln the town and beyorKI with customers travelling especially to visit the
store.
The charity continues to have ￿11 regard for the Charity Commission's guldance on the Importance of
operating for public benefrt and the folkn¥in9 donations have been made by us durin9 this financial year:

At the dose of this fin8ncial ygar the tharity had a NatW88t wrrent account balance of £83,108.27 and a
Natwest Reserve Account balance of £10,750.18. The Charity aims to hold 12 months annual expenditure
in reserve to cover any unforeseen reduction in income. The charity's free reserves at th8 end of the
financial Jear stooj at £93,858 (2023.. £78,542).
L8agu8 of Fri8nds volunt88r8 continue to give much time and effort each week to the work required to run
this successful charity shop and cultivate an inviting atmosphere and approathable team giving time to
listen. talk and offer advice and assistance to U￿rnerS.
Despite the rent for the shop belng Increased durfng the year, due to the Increased tumover of charlty,
the Trustees consider the charity to be well ￿SItion to manage the ￿Trent sltuatlon and secure operatlons
inlo thè future.
