## **MIDDLESBROUGH CATHOLIC FELLOWSHIP ANNUAL REPORT NOVEMBER 2024 – OCTOBER 2025** Thank you all who support and volunteer for another successful year of Fellowship activities that were carried out both on a Saturday morning and Wednesday evening. Masses were held throughout the year around the diocese and it was good to catch up with friends old and new and huge thank you to all the priests and parishioners for their kindness and continued hospitality. A huge thank you to all the priests and parishioners for all their kindness and making us feel so welcome. ## **Clubs** Weekly clubs ran smoothly throughout the year and Wednesday Club is well attended and Saturday Club is going really well also. There was a couple of Wednesday evening cancelled due to cold weather. Thank you to all our volunteers and those who separately set up various activities for holidays, fund raising events and crafts and to have people conducting these activities we are very luck as this enables out members to enjoy the activities. ## **Transport** Both buses were maintained throughout the year and remained up and running. ## **Shop** The shop continues to trade on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The shop is our main source of income and our thanks goes to the group of volunteers for their services to the shop throughout the year. Shop also celebrated 25 years based in Viewley Centre with Betty Harris and Jean Purvis volunteering for more than 25 years. Sheila from the shop also retired and we would like to thank Sheila for her service to the shop. Helen Crosby (Claire Cooks mams) joined the shop working on a Wednesday. ## **Activities** In November 2024 we held our memorial mass where we remembered all our passed members. This was celebrated by Canon John Lumley at St Bernadette’s Nunthorpe. December 2024 – Pantomime at the Little Theatre in Middlesbrough which was enjoyed by all and a thank you to the Theatre Team for looking after us. Easter Monday walk took place and then finished off in the Holy Name for refreshments and Easter Games. In May was “Pop Goes To The Movies” at the 4 Alls which was enjoyed by all our members and their families. In July we attended the Redcar Group BBQ which was also another great get together and thank you to the Redcar Group for the invite. September was our well attended fundraiser in the 4 Alls with Niall Southall our Elvis tribute which was a great success and this raises vital funds to continue with fellowship activities. 18[th] December we held our Annual Christmas Party at the 4 Alls. ## **Holidays** The holiday was well attended in July 2025 at Wyedale Hall and was enjoyed by all. ## **Other Business** ## **Bereavements** Sadly during the year we had the following bereavements of members of the fellowship: Fr Peter Ryan Anthony Leahy (Natalies Uncle) John Cockburn Mark Redshaw ## **Big Birthdays** We celebrated some big birthdays at the Fellowship during the past year. Congratulations to Tony Kirk who celebrated getting his bus pass. Karen Kelly celebrated her 60[th] Birthday and Ian Osbaldeston celebrated his 60[th] Birthday also. Lastly, thank you, as always to our unsung heroes/heroines who do so much behind the scenes to help the smooth running of the Fellowship. Thank you to Carole for overseeing the accounts. Donna for our end of year accounts and all Committee Members and helper thank you because without all these people we just could not run. Thank you all for making out Fellowship a happy and safe place for our members. The Officers for the Group remain, as above, for the forthcoming year. 2. The Group consists of 10 regular members and 4 regular carers. Other carers supported on occasions. The group continues to use Redcar Rugby Club as a base for general Wednesday evening activities. Our sincere thanks are once again offered to the Committee, Steward and Bar Staff of Redcar Rugby Club for the warm welcome we receive on these occasions. The Club provides a pool table, and other pub games for the group and permits us to bring in our own food when we wish to do so. The Rugby Club has started doing catering and the group have enjoyed partaking of their beautiful pizzas. On some evenings members of the group generously supply tasty snacks to help celebrate special occasions. The domino games have become very competitive when members challenge for biscuits as prizes. During the year every effort is made to engage the members in a variety of activities within the limits of our funds. During the year we have been to pantomime, Earthbeat Theatre, the cinema and bowling.The atmosphere of the group on all occasions is full of enthusiasm, friendly and fun-loving. Members are eager to take part and carers are inspired by the many phone calls and text messages between evenings out. Members continually express their thanks wholeheartedly for their activities. I cannot praise too highly the consistent, freely-given and enthusiastic commitment of the carers: Stephen Askins, Paul McGeady, and Fiona Bailey and for the occasional but much needed support from: Shane McGeady, Martin Askins, Ann Corey and Declan McGeady. The Summer evenings allow the group to enjoy a variety of walks around Redcar, Saltburn and the Tees Barrage. The Redcar group regularly joins the Middlesbrough Group for Fellowship Masses on the third Sunday of each month.
