MIDDLESBROUGH CATHOLIC FELLOWSHIP ANNUAL REPORT November 2021 – Oct 2022

All clubs ran in 2021 – 2022 but there was a break at Christmas due to the Omicron virus and this meant that all Christmas events were cancelled including the parties but each member still got their Christmas gift. The Saturday Club resumed on 12[th] February and Wednesday club resumed on 16[th] February and the Wednesday club did not close for half term in February due to been closed earlier on in the year. The mass in January at Ingleby Barwick went ahead but no refreshments due to Omicron but in February 2022 all back to normal at North Ormesby with 67 people attending the mass. The 100 club also resumed in February at the mass and the masses continued throughout the year. Few committee meetings where held over Zoom. Some new members were introduced to the Wednesday night Club Amie Trigg, Mark Walton, Thomas Clifton and Adam and Amy Carlton, started a Wednesday night. Claire Grainger and Susan Walton started going on a Saturday morning also.

Clubs:

The clubs had resumed in early 2021, but were suspended again over the Christmas period due to the Omicron surge. As a result all the parties and the pantomime visit were cancelled.

All members were given a Christmas present to the value of approximately £30 as we incurred no party or pantomime costs.

Transport:

There has been quite a few issues with the both buses for example the yellow bus required a tail lift and step both of which were done. There was new seats put in the white bus in November 2022 and the lift was also repaired in the white bus. Both undergone their winter checks and MOT’s.

Shop: The Shop has been open Mondays and Fridays when restrictions permitted, although it did close during the Omicron surge as the staff felt it appropriate to do so. The shop then opened Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

We now no longer have a regular driver for the shop van, so are unable to pick up and drop off items.

The Shop is always our main source of income at the best of times, and thank you to Betty, Jean, Helen and Gaynor and all the other helpers for their hard work in making our Shop such a success.

Chair's Report to Annual General Meeting 8 November 2022

  1. The Officers for the Group remain, as above, for the forthcoming year.

  2. The Group consists of 11 regular members and 3 regular carers. Other carers supported on occasions.

The group continues to use Redcar Rugby Club as a base for general Wednesday evening activities. Our sincere thanks are once again offered to the Committee, Steward and Bar Staff of Redcar Rugby Club for the warm welcome we receive on these occasions. The Club provides a pool table, and other pub games for the group and permits us to bring in our own food when we wish to do so. On some evenings members of the group generously supply tasty snacks to help celebrate special occasions.

During the year every effort is made to engage the members in a variety of activities within the limits of our funds.

The atmosphere of the group on all occasions is full of enthusiasm, friendly and funloving. Members are eager to take part and carers are inspired by the many phone calls and text messages between evenings out. Members continually express their thanks wholeheartedly for their activities.

I cannot praise too highly the consistent, freely-given and enthusiastic commitment of the carers: Stephen Askins and Paul McGeady, and for the occasional but much needed support from: Shane McGeady, Martin Askins and Ann Corey.

Having put COVID behind us the group was able to re-establish our routine activities with visits to the theatre, bowling and enjoyable shared meals.

Incidents of concern

There were no recorded incidents, accidents, or causes of concern during this year.
