Th8 Theatre's premises are The Heron Theatre. a listed buikling located in Stanley Street, Beetham.
Cumbria LA7 7AS. The premises ar8 available for hire at reasonable cost to other soaeties and
organisations within the communty.
The Charitys correspondent is Peter Mann, 20 Brantwood Avenue, M￿arnbe. LA4 6HB.
Founded in 1948, the organisation was named "South WeStMothr￿ Stage and Screen Sociev.
governed by a ¢onstitution adopted on 11 May 1973.
Amendments across the years have included a change of name to Tr Heron Theatre" and the
current consolidated version was updated on 3 November 2015.
Charitable Ststus was granted on 19 June 1973. The Charity is administered by a Committee of
Trustees appointed annually at the Annual General Meeting.

The objed of the Heron Theatre is to present dramatic and music31 perfO￿nan￿S. films, lectures. art
exhibitions and the promotion of ot￿r cu￿Ural adivities. These rely on the voluntsry seM¢es arKI talents
of its members vtho number apprO￿Matefy 480. and upon the r￿ibUtionS of visiting theatre and musi
groups. Membership is open to all. The Heron Theatre is licensed by SoLrth Lakeland and Fumess
District Council for the provision of public entertainment arKI sale of a1￿h01 under the tems of the
LicEnsing Act 2003. The Trustees are the Premises License Hoklers. The Personal Li¢ense Holder
rbominated as Designated Premises Supervisor for the sale of alcohol is Peter Mann. In the
interests of public safety bolh these licenses are subject to stringent rules and regular
Inspeclions. The authorised audience capacity is 78.

THE HERON THEATRE

I report on the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31 May 2024 whith are set out on pages 6-
RESPECTIVE RESPONSIBILITIES OF TRUSTEES AND EXAMINER
The tharivs trustees are responsible for the preparatKJn of Ihe accounts in aC<￿rdanCe with the
Chariiies Act 2011.
The chariiy's trustees consider that an audit is not required this year utmkr section 144 of the Act
and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsits'lty to:
- examine the accounts under sedion 145 of the Charities Art
- to follow the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission (under secaion 145(5Xb) of the
Act), and - to state whether particular matt8rs have come to my attention.
BASIS OF INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S STATEMEpir
My examination was carried out in accordance wtth general Diredions given by the Charity
Commission. An examination includes a revlew of the axounting re￿rdS kept by the charity arKI
comparison of the ac￿untS presented with those records. It also includes o)nsideration of any unusual
ilems or disdosures in the accovnts. and seeking explanations from the trustees con¢eming any such
matter5. The procedures ur¥Jertaken do not provide all the eviden￿ that would be required in an audit,
and consequently no opinion is given as lo whether the accounts present a Irue and fairf and the
report is lim5ted to those matters set out in the statement below.
INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S STATEMENT
In connection with my examination. no matters have to my allention %*thich gives me Cause to
believe that in, any material respect:

accounts did not accord wrth the accountiro records". ￿ the accounts did not comply with the

(Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a Irue
arKI fairf view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
