Section D
Achievements and performance
Summary ofthe main
achievements of the
charity during the year
The Trustees present their Annual Report and financial statements for
the year ended 31 St December 2024 in accordance with the Charities Act
1993. The charity is govemed by the Scheme dated 2nd May 1882 as
varied by the Scheme dated 4th July 1962 and is registered with the
Charity Commission as the °Cockey Moor Protestant Dissenting Chapel
and Endowments. under registration number 501049.
The object of the General Fund of the charity is to provide an income
applicable for the maintenance of public worship and the minister of the
Chapel. The General Fund has once again allowed us to fvlfil our charity
obligations.
Once again, this has been a relatively busy year for the new body of
Trustees and our regular, monthly services have shown a welcome
increase in attendance, from people of all ages. Each service now ends
with a social element and some refreshments, allowing Chapel members
better to get to know each other.
The Trustees main project during the year has been the re-pointing of
the north and west walls; in addition, a full electrical safety assessment
took place, all advisory work having since been completed, tested and
passed as compliant. Routine maintenance of the Chapel, School Room
and grounds has continued, and the Chapel is fortunate in having
volunteers who give most generously of their time, in this regard.
A fire risk assessment was perfomed by two Chapel members, and the
policy, notices and signage were further updated, as required. In
addition, Safeguarding has been reviewed, and formal changes agreed
by the Trustees are now in place, including external points of contact,
should any Member have any cOn￿rnS. Two safeguarding offi￿r5 are
in place; again, volunteers have been instrumental in achieving this
natural progression, having attended courses and compared our policies
with other examples of good practice.
Our Schoolroom building continues to have some community use, and
we maintain the fabric as best we are able. Within the Chapel itself,
arrangements are in hand for the installation of an ambulant disabled
WC, sink, plus a separate preparation area for hot drinks and
refreshments, with a view to making our services as inclusive as they
can be, so that we may continue to welcome all members of our
congregation. A significant donation of £20,000 to our funds following
the closure of Bank Street Chapel, Bolton was gratefully received; this
will be used primarily to help fund these alterations, to reflect a
substantial improvement to the way we operate; an architect has been
appointed, and we continue to work with Bury Metropolitan Borough
Council to finalize the plans to be submitted, allowing for the works to
take place as soon as is practicable.
Approved by the Trustees on 9th September 2025 and signed on their
