The Harry Cowan cup was awarded to Th"ck Gray who was first in hours donated and mone collected for the ear Membership Engagement Report (please insert details ofthe 8ranch Membership Engagement (newslette￿. social media efc.) Over the course of the year our average membership stands at 385. which reflects a steady decline over the years Eyhty of our number are lrfetime members, ¥thilst 40 of our m8mbers are over 85 years of age. Few of th8se are regular visitors to the dub. A large proportion (340h) are GAYE members. most of whom live away from York and cannot attend. Membership Secretary has written to, or emailed ewhteen members aged between s￿5, believing that demographic would be most likely lo have the time and inclination to actively parti￿pate in dub aCtiVrt￿8, and encouraged them to Vtsit the Club in order to experience the facilities and ￿ friendly and ￿lcOMIng thospher8. He has also contacted all joiners who are local to York to encourage them to attend when able. Unfortunately. thè uptake has been very disappointing. Very few responded and that did attend have not contsnued to visrt. Communication with our mémbership has been adversety affected by the closure of our Websrte in late January due to increasing costs arKI a poor user irrterface that VRS time consuming and difficull to populate. We are hopeful thal the generic RAFA *ebsrte *ill rolled out in the near fuiure. We continue to produ¢e a quarterly newsletter, the 'AldWa￿ ChronicE8' and our Annual Reports, vthich we distribute via email and by post to those without an email addre&8. By these means ￿ are able to advertise and report on activities and events we are involved in. Urgent communications are sent by email or telephon8. We also use the YO￿ Press ar¥J York Mix social media pages to wb11￿ze Signfficant events and to post letters of thanks to the public at large, for their generosty in donatsng during ow street ￿lIe￿on$. This correspondence provides an opportunty to adverts'se the existen￿ of the Branch and Branch C￿b in the hope of attrading new memtrws. OROYAL AIRFORCES Association Summary ofthe main achievements of the branch during the year {Gont) Wellbeing I Social Report (please insert details of the Brai?ch Wellbeing and Social events/aGtivilies) The Branch and Branch Club run a busy pri)aramme of WEllbeing and SOGial activities. The Club is open every Wednesday and Saturday at lurthime providiw a varni, friendly and lively meeting pla￿ kn our members. (knsionally, every 4 to 6 weeks, food is available at the Club at very modest cost. The Club ha5 also been the venue for regular film shows, presentations, occasional qui7zes, a comedy plus event and games of bingo. Additionally, the ladies organise a monthly ladtes lunth at a local hostelry, usually held on Friday. On St George's day a roast dinner was organised by a Branch member, and hosted in the Club. On 3 May. a celebration was held at the Club to commemorate VE Day and on 15 Aug a similar party was held to commemorate VJ Day. The Club organised a Chnstmas lunch at a local hote on 3 Dec and a Christmas draw on 20 Dec. Commemoration Report (please insert details oftl?e BraiiGh Commemoration eVent￿aCtivItieS (Remembrance. Standard Bearers Altendance at Funerals etc.) The 8ranGh was involved In the followng commemoration actiwties.. Attendance at three Tuming of the Page Ceremonies in York Minster. The ceremony is hekl in rememlxance of all those Airmèn from all nats'ons who gave their lives vthilst fl￿n9 from bases in Yorkshire, Northumbertand and Durham. The first (Kcurred on 1 Apr, to coincide with the foundation of the RAF. the second was on 13 Jun, olebratiro Arrrhryd Forces Day. The third was on 31 DeG, to mark the e￿1 of the year. A Service of Rememtxance at the Dunnington Lodge Fann memorial to coMmem￿ale the 80 Anniversary of Operation Gisela was held at York Maze on 2 Mar. Annual involvement in the Escape Lines Memorial So• service at Eden Camp on 26 Apr. Attendance on the 27 Apr, at a Ser4ice of Dedication marking the erection of a memorial to a 425 Sqn Lancaster lost dwiTrJ the second World War at RAF Trtolthorpe. VE Day Ai# of Remembrance 8 May. Annual involvement in RCAF Eastmoor Memorial service at Sutton-on4he- Forest on 10 May. Attendance at the annual RAFWRBURSA Church Service at the Church of All Saints Pavement in York. 29 Jun. VJ Day Memonal Ceremony on 15 Aug. VJ Day Memorial Service hèld at Al Saints Pavement on 17 Aug. Annual involvement in All S8ThiC8s Parade and servi￿ at Eden Camp on 7 Sep. Rememtrance event at th8 South African Klem￿1. Yolk on 1 Nov. Annual involvement in York Festival of Remembrance on 9 Nov. Remembrance SeNice at York Railway memorial on 11 Nov The Standard was also raded at 7 funerals over the course of the ear. OROYAL AIRFORCES Association Community Engagement Report (please insert deiails of the Branch Con7munity Engagement activities (other groups you connect Lvith, joint events such as Veterans Breakfasts) In addrtion to the interaction implicrt in all the commemoration activrties listed above, we also eThJage wÉih the York Branch of the Royal Bntish Legion, the York Branch of the Coldstream Guards Association and the Fèllowship of the Ser¥i¢es by providing our facilities fortheir regular meetirYJs. The York Branch of the Parachute Regiment Associknon also use our building as a base for their street collections. Students of the Yorkshire Universty Air Squadron, based at RAF LeemiTVJ regularly assist us during Wings Appeal Collect￿nS and also attend the Turning of the Page Ceremonies at the Minster. The Cadets of 110 (Crty of York) Squadron also asstst on these ¢x¢asions. Members of the RAFA Yort( Branth are present at the Awards Ceremonies held by 110 Sqn vthere present RAFA Trophies. We also interact M*ith the Sutton-on-th Forrest Parish Counol during the planning of the RCAF Eastrnoor Memorial Service. We have also connected with the Ryedabe Branch of RAFA Io strengthen our tss and we now exchange our programm8s of acttvrties and our newsletters. On the 28 Sep the Branch Club was opened to the public as a part of the York Unlocked Prwa. cNer 100 members of the public visited the Club. The Branch members involved in hosting the visits receiv8d very posrtive feedback from our gu88ts who were captwated by the idiosyncratic décor of our Club. OROYAL AIRFORCES Association Section E.. Financial Review Statement on Branch Expenditure (How has branch expenditure supported the key objprti . es of Ihp brr?nc.hl Primary Branch expendtture has been on the Branch building rates, insurance, utilities, maintenance and repair. This allows the Branch to rent the Spa￿ to York RAFA Club, a key provider of comradeship. It also allows the Branch to host civic dignitaries, and other Branch supporters after fomial Branch activities in the City and surrounding area; this raises the profile of the Branch and RAFA, highlighting the welfare support and comradeship provided. Other expenditure indudes the woduction and distribution of the Branch NewEletter and delegate expanses for RAFA conferences. Statement on Branch's Reserve Policy (Branch Regulalions stipulate Ihal any Branch with total assets amounting to more than £5, 000 should have a r&sarves policy and any BranGh with assets over £10, 000 should consider transfemng excess funds across to the Branch Deposit Fund held at 4ssociation HQ. A template res8Nes oolicy can be found on the Branch Portal) The Branch holds a restricted fund (the Weffare Account) which at 31 st D8cember 2025 held £2,465. This money is entirely eamiarked for Welfare purposes. including v￿11-b￿1ng, for the benefit of qualifying members of the RAF Family. The history of demarKls on the fund have been modest over recent years and £10,000 was transferred to CHQ in 2024. Furthemiore, the Branch will review annually whether to request any Wngs Rebate and whethw to transfer any fvrKls to CHQ. The balance held on unrestricted fuThds {the General Account) at 31st December 2025 vra8 £47,189. The major income to these funds is from the Branch Club rent. The income meets the runnirvJ costs of the property, which also provides a meeting arKI administrative venue. and a social hub in support of FIAFA objectiv88.
