How the Charity is constituted Trust
Trustee selection method.
The Secretary and Treasurer are appointed annually at the AGM.
Trustees are appointed or re-appointed at the AGM in April and serve for 2 years.
The Chair is appointed by the Trustees annually following the AGM. R. Till was reappointed Chair.
Objectives and activities
The Society is established for the purpose of advancing, especially in Grimsby and Cleethorpes, education in and appreciation of the arts and in particular of the arts of drama, mime, dance, singing, elocution and music in their various aspects and either alone or in co-
operation with others, to organise, perform, or promote the study of such dramas, operas, operettas, burlesques, mimes, films, broadcasts, music, ballets, entertainments, displays, exhibitions, dancing, puppet shows, recitations, readings and lectures, and do all such other things, whether upon Society premises or elsewhere, as are necessary to the furtherance of the aforesaid charitable objects or any of them.
In planning our activities for the year, we kept in mind the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit at our trustee meetings.
Achievements and performance
We have changed our ticketing agents and are now able to scan individual patrons tickets for each performance giving us accurate data as well as contributing to security and H&S. There was a substantial upgrade on stage lighting on associated hardware and software. A new stage door has been fitted which assists in preventing unauthorised access.
The Youth Theatre continues to attract new members with both senior and junior groups.
Financial Review
Cash at bank as of 31 Dec 25 was £97.4k in unrestricted funds, (31 Dec 24, £109.0k).
This was due mainly to the £38,439 expenditure on new stage lighting, including the rewiring and control boards. Further to the £50k donation in 2024, £10k was received from the same donor in 2025.
