Ob"ectlves and activlties The Society is established for the purpose of advanan& espeaally in Grimsby and Cleethorpes. education in and appreoation of the arts and in particular of the arts of drama, mime, dance. singln& elocution and music in their warious aspects and either alone or in co- operation with others, to organise. perform. or promote the study of suth dramas, operas. operettas. burlesques, mimes. films, broadcasts, music. ballets. entertainments, displays, exhibitions, dandn& puppet shows. reatations, readings and lettures, and do all such other things, whether upon Society premises or elsewhere, as are necessary to the furtheran of the aforesaid charitable objects or any of them. In plannlng our activities for the year. we kept In mind the Charity Comrnission's guidance on public benefit at our trustee meetings. Achievements and erformance Followlng on from the slight increase in tlcket sales in 2023 of 2.6% (compared to 2022 ex lockdown), 2024 was up 21% in seat sales and 22% in ticket income. Consequently, secondary Income from retails sale5 etc ha5 also increased. The Youth Theatre has restarted with both Senior and junior groups. Flnanclal Revlew Cash at bank as of 31 Dec 24 was £109.Ok in unrestricted funds, {31 Dec 23, £34,6k). Apart from the increase in ticket & retail sales Income there were also year on year increases in fund raislng and youth theatre, as well as a substantial bequest of £50k from the estate of one of our long-standing members. Independent Examinerfs Report to the Trustees of The Caxton Players I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of The Caxton Players for the year ended 31 December 2024. Responsibilities and basis of report As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of Ihe accounts in accordan with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the AGt'). I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. Independent Examinerfs statement I have completed my exarnination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect: 1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act; or 2. the accounts do not accord with those records I have no concems and have come across no other matters in connection with the examlnation to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understsnding of the accounts to be reached.
