Ob'ertlves and activitles The Sooety is established for the purpose of advancin& espeaally in Grimsby and Cleethorpes, education in and appreciation of the arts and in particular of the arts of drama, mime. dance, singin& elocution and music in their warious aspects and either along or in co- operation with others, to organise, perform, or promote the study of such dramas, operas, operettas, burlesques, mimes, films. broadcasts, musiG ballets. entertainments, displays, exhibitions, danan& puppet shows. reatstions. readings and lectures, and do all such other things, whether upon Soaety premises or elsewhere. as are neSary to the furtherance of the aforesaid charitsble objects or any of them. In planning our activities for the year we kept in mind the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit at our trustee meetings Achievements and erforniance Following our first full year program after Covid in 2022 the ticket sales for main house produttions were up 2.6% in our 2023 season. Owing to a sustsined publioty drive ticket sales are now increasin& though slowly and dependant on the time of year. For each production we are encountering new faces at the theatre and an increase in membetship. Refurbishment of the bar area and mezzanine have been completed. Financial Review Cash at bank as at 31 Dec 23 was £34.6k in unrestricted funds. (31 Dec 22, £32.8k). Income from ticket sales continued to rise year on year. Increasing utility Costs, in particular electriaty, were addressed during the year and new contracts were undertaken with a different supplier. Similarly, we changed our phone/broadband supplier. Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees of The Caxton Players I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of The Caxton Players for the year ended 31 December 2023. Responsibilities and basis of report As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act,). I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. Independent Examiner's statement I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect: accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act; or 2. the accounts do not accord with those records I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
