## AGM 16 October 2025

## Item 4

## CHAIRS AND VICE CHAIR'S ANNUAL REPORT

Events throughout the year have been very well attended. These include an invite by the Ripley Town Council and the Ripley Branch of the Royal British Legion to attend the Remembrance Day Parade to lay a Poppy Wreath at the War Memorial. Thanks to Chris Redfern for being our representative on this occasion. The Christmas Tree Lights switchon in the UTC Waiting room was joined by Ripley Morris. Christmas dinner at Denby Lodge in January, Fish and Chip Evenings at "Ripley's. A stall on the Market for Ripley Town Council Spring event. Quiz Nights at the Community Town Council Centre on Nottingham Road and Car Boots down at Pentrich Fields.

I cannot thank everyone enough for all the time and help you have given at these events. Not forgetting Rob Yeomans for using his vehicle to convey items on many occasions.

Our first Coffee Morning a Ripley All Saints Church was a great success, raising over £1,200 for just a mornings work. Being well advertised and in a central location it attracted a large number of visitors. Thank you to all who helped, not just on the day but prior to the event by arranging advertising, collecting raffle prizes and bringing forth an abundance of fine cakes which were kindly donated by members and friends. The Church being an ideal venue and hopefully we can look forward to joining them for future coffee mornings.

In January the Officers of the League met with Dean Wallace, The Chief Operating Officer for DCHS and Melanie Curd, Associate Director of Corporate Governance Trust Secretary. One item we included on the agenda covered the condition of the X-Ray Unit in the hospital. The current machine was funded by the League back in 2011. Dialogue on this subject is still on going, and we have since expressed an interest in funding a replacement unit. Other meetings followed in February with Erin Marshall, Locality Manager for South Derbyshire Estates, to discuss future projects within the hospital.

In addition to the income from events that I have mentioned we have received several donations, legacies and collecting boxes from members of the public.

We have supported the following departments with equipment in the hospital during the year:-

- A Medicare couch for the Ultrasound department

- 2 Dressing Trolleys for the Outpatients department

- 4 Syringe Drivers for the Community Nursing Team

Also we are pleased to announce that after a presentation by Erin Marshall at our Committee Meeting in September we have given the go ahead for a major project within the hospital, which will be subject to final budget costings. The Tea Bar continues to provide a valued service for patients and staff inside the hospital by opening during the weekday mornings. Many thanks to the ladies for keeping the tea bar running so well.

Also thank you to Diana for keeping a record of the weekly Tea Bar takings and listing these for our Treasurer. Thank you to Amy for being our membership Secretary.

Finally I would like to thank John, our Treasurer for all his expert guidance and hard work. Also to Jane for her Secretarial work throughout the year. It has been a very difficult year for Phyllis our Chair and we have missed her presence on so many occasions.

## **Independent examiner's report to the trustees of Ripley Hospital League of Friends**

I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of Ripley Hospital League of Friends (the Trust) for the year ended 30 September 2025.

## **Responsibilities and basis of report**

As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act').

## **Independent examiner's statement**

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by Section 130 of the Act; or

2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or

3. the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

Expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and has been classified under headings that aggregate all cost related to the category. Where costs cannot be directly attributed to particular headings they have been allocated to activities on a basis consistent with the use of resources.

Grants offered subject to conditions which have not been met at the year end date are noted as a commitment but not accrued as expenditure.

## **Taxation**

The charity is exempt from tax on its charitable activities.

## **Fund accounting**

Unrestricted funds can be used in accordance with the charitable objectives at the discretion of the trustees.

Restricted funds can only be used for particular restricted purposes within the objects of the charity. Restrictions arise when specified by the donor or when funds are raised for particular restricted purposes.

Further explanation of the nature and purpose of each fund is included in the notes to the financial statements.
