MAOS Annual General Meetin
2023
Secretar
Re
ort
Ladies and Gentlemen. we are pleased to welcome you to the AGM where we will be looking back
over the period of April 22 until March 23.
We started off in Sept 22 with 9 to 5, directed by Michael Kirkby with Amy Roche-sheard joining
Michael to Choreograph the show and musical direction by James Greatorex. The show was well
known to some and unknown to others but think we can all agree bythe end it was enjoyed by all.
The show was based on the famous dolly parton movie of the same name and followed the
escapades of three work colleagues fighting for recognition against their chauvinistic boss. Julie. Jeni
and Hayley "shone like the sun" along side the a fabulous ensemble and supporting cast. Audiences
commented how much they enjoyed the show and its nice to see some new members of the
ensemble join the society and stay with us when the show finished.
th
In Oct 22 we celebrated our 95 Anniversary of the society with a dinner dance at Howley Hall golf
club. The event was attend by 70 members of the society and entertainment was provided by CB3
trio. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening and it was lovely to see that even after 95 years the
society is going strong. Now we have 5 yearsto plan for a big 100 year party!
At the beginning of December we had the annual Christmas coffee mornin& this event was very
well attended and enjoyed by all, thanks again to Adama and the members of the committee that
organised the event and all those runnin8 the stalls and the kids club for providing the
refreshments.
In Jan 23 we were back on stage with our pantomime "Beauty and the Beast" direrted and
choreographed by Michael Kirkby with musical dirertion by lan Abbott. As usual the show brought
just the right amount of magic and fun and the audiences loved it. With Daisy. Albert, Steven, Chris.
Richard, Louise, Michael, Charlotte, Gemma, Beth, Lindsey, Harry...there really was a lot of
principles... leadingthe cast, it really was a great performance and were once again supported by a
fabulous ensemble. We were also happy to welcome back our youth ensemble for the pantomime,
its was great to see so many familiar faces from our kids club. Its great to have them back on stage
with the adults once again.
I'd also like to take this opportunity to say thank you to Jo, Amy, Marie, Chris and Louise for all
their hardwork running the youth performers club and building the club back up after the
pandemic. We cant wait to see what they have in store for us next but I'm sure it will be fabulous.
We've also started our 3rd year of the Morley Lotto, which has been well supported again by the
members and over 70 numbers sold for the monthly draw. each draw has been taking place on the
first Tuesday of each month with 1st pri2es of £18 and Prizes of £7. Thanks to YOU 5UPPOrt the first
year of the lotto raised near to £500 for the society so thank you I

In April our members attended the NODA weekend at Bridlington, our representation at this event
Is getting bigger every year and the weekend was enjoyed by all that have attended. So if you have
never been before we welcome you to come and join us all next April.
Finally, we ended our year with our presidents evening last Saturday. This celebrates the final year
of our current president Andrea Holt. The night wa5 held at the Morley Ru8by Club and attended
by over 90 members and frlends of the society. The entertainment was produced by Kaly
Nicholson and Jeni Riordan and a team oftalented society members. Anyone who saw the show
I'm sure will agree that it was fabulous and really made the night. Thanks to everyone involved in
the evening, organising a night like this it takes a lot from everyone but I'm sure you will all agree
it is worth it.
Well, that ladie5 and gentlemen is our year in a nutshell. As you all know shows are not just about
the performers, so much work goe5 on prior to show week, back sta8e and in rehearsals to make
the final performance. So just a few thank you's... I would also like to say a big thank you to Tracey
and Andrea who have stepped forward to organise the costumes for our shows, its not an easy job.
so thank you. they all looked fabulous. The backstage / production team who have transported
Michael's vision to the stage and their backstage crew who made them come to life at show week,
supported as always byAndrea and herteam who has ensured everyone has all the props they need
and when they needed them. Linda and her helpers who have kept everyone hydrated at rehearsals,
June, Joyce and Judy who run our front of house for our shows and your committee who have sold
your tickets, publicised yourshows and managed yoursociety so we can keep on performing. Finally
thank you to you all. a society 15 nothing without its members and Morley has the best. So thank
you everyone and here's to another fabulous yearl
