## **REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES**

## **FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31[ST] MARCH 2022**

The Trustees have pleasure in submitting the Report and Accounts for the period ended 31st March 2022.

Throughout this year (April 2021-March 2022) we have continued to pursue our charitable objectives.

Our regular Sunday Services have continued and attendance has grown significantly, regularly reaching one hundred people on a Sunday morning, with many visitors and the gallery in regular use.

The English Classes have developed significantly with a new leader developing the curriculum and many more students attending on both Thursdays and Fridays.

The Toddlers Group has gone from strength to strength with about thirty children in attendance.

Alongside the ongoing work of the Foodbank, we have, this year, opened a Food Market in partnership with Fareshare. This new service supports about sixty households a week on a first come first serve basis, offering mainly fresh food donated by local supermarkets and collected by volunteers from the church.

People have come to our Sunday services through all of these ministries. Our weekly prayer meeting continues and is growing.

The Night Shelter ran on Monday nights over the early part of the winter, but was discontinued because of a lack of demand.

Sunday School and Town Kids continue to be well attended and our membership has continued to grow.

Over the year we have initiated and completed a number of maintenance and refurbishment projects on the building. This work continues.

Our online presence continues also. We stream our Sunday Services and a daily livestream at 8.45am each weekday continues also. We have run a number of introductory courses online through the year over zoom.

Our financial situation is improving in a very encouraging way.

We have also invested in training with the aim of supporting our volunteers and raising up new leaders in the church

We to look to God to continue to build his church in the year to come.

This report is signed on behalf of the Trustees on 29th September 2022 by

## **INDEPENDENT EXAMINERS REPORT**

## **TO THE TRUSTEES OF**

## **GRANGETOWN BAPTIST CHURCH**

I report on the accounts of the Trust for the period ended 31[st] March 2022, which are set out on pages 9 to 12.

## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner**

The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that an independent examination is needed.

It is my responsibility to:

- examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act;

- to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act; and

- to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

## **Basis of independent examiner's report**

My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair view' and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

## **Independent examiner's statement**

In connection with my examination, no material matters have come to my attention which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect:

- accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act or

- the accounts do not accord with the accounting records

I have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
