Councillor Benson and Councillor Platten gifted the money which built the r￿St altnshuuses known as 1-8, PlaLien Grove, Morecambe. Sinc¢ th¢n the Clwity has built two further properti¢s- Nos. 9 and 10, Platt¢n Grov¢. The objeci of the Charity, fvr th¢ public benefiL is to provide housing for'poor aged persons residing in the Borough of Mor¢carnb¢ and H¢ysham" dnd to apply any 5urylus inLQme for the ben¢lit of th¢ aimspeople in such a manner as the Trustees think fit. The residents are exp¢¢L¢d to ¢ontributr iowards ih¢ ¢osL of mainthining the almshouses and essential services. The day to day Thnning of the Chariry is don¢ througb the Clerk to the Trustees. Reserves policy The Lhdrity mdintiin5 suificient free reseTves to enable them to coyer on¢ yeals fixed 4md administrative expenses and any maintenance costs. Free reserves as ai the year-end were £112.144 (2024- £113,434). Review of developm¢nt, activity and achievements Occupancy remained at IOOO/o overall following 2 vacancies and subsequent new appO￿￿llents. The 2 properties required partial refuthishmenl prior to relettin8. The works identified in the pr¢vious finan¢ial period ww¢ a¢rion¢d. Numben 9 and 10 rcccived an Upgr￿1¢ duc to th¢ roofs being at th¢ ¢nd of their life and also ihe requirement fo improve the themial prop¢nies of the buildings. The Quinquennial Inspections look place in Summ¢r 2025 and a ￿tUre progrdmme of works will be rolled out accordingly. The charity has sufficient funth to meet its liabilities. 'I'he trustees considw that they have complied with the duty in section 4 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the public benefit guidance published by the Charity Commission. Financial review The rnark¢t value of funds held in inyeslments increased by 2.80/0 this year du¢ to fiwther improvement in the market geiierally.
