The Rainl)ow Family Trust was esiablished in 1990 to build a children's hospice. On completion ihe building was
namcd 'Francis House, io commemorate the sacrifice made by the Sisiers of the b"ran¢iscan Mission of St. Joseph who
gave up their convenl to be converted into the Hospice.
In 2012 ihe TTU$t was regi$iered under the new name of Francis 14ouse Family Trusl at Compan ies House. Th¢ new

Our philosophy com¢s from ￿ller in the sanctity of life and the dignity of ihe individual. We aim to hear. respeci and
value every memb¢r of ihe family &8 individuals wilh their own needs. Car¢ is available to families regardless of faith
or cultural backgrounds. Our aim is io care for the sick young people and their families as they and their family wish.
We care for young adults in ihe ways thal they dictat¢ or as is deemed in Iheir be51 Inter¢￿ by ihe relevant advocate.
Physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs are ci)nsidcred necessary elemcnts in our holistic caxc. One of our
principle aims is lo ¢nable the young p￿pIC to live life os fully as their conditions alloiv often helping them io ￿[flI
dreams. Many of thcse dreams are experien¢es that m05t of us lake for granted in our own liv¢s but can be diificuli
accomplish when eoping with a serious physical condilion.

symplom conirol. We c￿¢ for young people with a wide range of complex and often undiagnosed condirions.

Cheshire ihree peaks walk and ihe annual Ball. In addition, volunteers from across the North West have continued to

*End of Life e8re. We conlinue to provide care to babie5. childTen and young adults ai the end of their lives. When a child
dies families can stay at franci$ House ivhilst their child is in one of our ihr¢¢ Rainbow R(￿ms. Th¢ Rainboiw rooms are
specially cooled rooms that orrer an alicrnative to 8 funcral home. During this very dirricult tim¢ families #re supwrted by
our care t¢am, who wisl wilh fun¢rnl arrdnA¢m¢nls and provide cu¢. love and support ¢n&bling f8mili¢s to say goodbye to

We have benefilled Ihis year from a grant of £152,295 awarded lo Francis House as part of a Governmenl grant of

projecis includin8 the inslallaiion of a new Digilal Telephone Sysiem within the Hospice, upgrades to our exi$iin8

RESERVES POLICY

The Trustees believe th* the level of reserves are required to honour iheiT commithieni io care for the children that they look
after for the duration of their lives. Over recept y¢ars advances in m¢di¢a] science hove exlended the lives of many of the
children we care for. In ordeT io meet thos¢ long-iemi ¢8r¢ eommitm¢nis the Trustees have approved the followin8 reserves

Thc-frusiees feel thal it is prudent lo lorget a minimum level of free unrestricted reserves suiTi¢i¢nl to cover the full operuiing
costs of the hospic¢ for ul l¢a5t on¢ year.

The Tnjsiees believe further reserves Should be maintoined to 8uwd against the uncertainties facing ihe Hospice as outlined
above. The Trustees reco8nise that the Trust will conlinue lo operate in a deficit for the next five years unlil such lime &$ we
are able to increase our revenue forni exiernal sources ihrough (undraising and increased levels of public fundin8. They
consider onc years runnin8 cosis anlicipaied ¢0 be circa £8,0(KI.000 pa by 2026 to be an appropriate level of reserves lo m¢¢l
our on8oin8 d¢fi¢ii.

2025 we will be welcoming S new registered nurses to the team and an addiiional 2 new care team members who bring

Francis House will benefit from a governmcni granl of £456,213 this year io meet capiial expenditure. This is the

the NHS and ihe Governments prowsed l O-year plan. Paymenl of ihe Children's Hospice grani h&8 been guaranteed
for 202512026 bul Ih¢r¢ is no elarity beyond Ihat time frame. The Trust is working with Together for Short Lives and is
conlinuing lo lobby ihe govemmeni to ensure Ihe 8rani stays in place.
The political uncertainty in the global economy has had a significanl negativ¢ impact upon the Trnsi's inv¢stmenls. Ihe
Trustees coniinue to consult wilh iheir professional invesimeni advisers regarding the future of our invesiments in
uncertain limes.
The Trusl is currently opcraling with a significani deficit that is bein8 fvnded from res¢rves. The Trustees recogni¥
