Drum Corps Unlted Klngdom SOUNDSPORT. Soundsport is nowcompleting its second year as the indoor alternativeto DCUK'S outdoor competition season. The second season has been very successful. and has attracted an increased number of competing units, with 15 units taking part during the season. The aSms of Soundsport are to encourage performerstotake partln creatln9 an enjoyable showto provide entertsinment to the performers and their audience. The competitive side of the activity runs very much third to thesetwo aims. Thejudging of thls actlvlty alms to provlde feedback to the performer5. and to categorise them simply into Bronze, Sllver or Gold standard. We have 3 adjudicators looking at the muslcal performance, the vis(Jal performance. and the overall impresslon. Thls Is done very much from an effect and entertainmentperspective. with much lessemphasls on the individual performance. Thatway we can encourage younger performerswho are maybe less proficient ontheir Instrument5 to take partand have an enjoyable performlng experience without the pr6ssure of detalled assessment of thelr ablllties. FollowSng a successful first season. we have also been able to attract new adjudicators to the panel. broadening the scope of feedback that can be provided tothecompetitors.
