# **Treasurer’s annual report for the Christian Workers Trust.**

## **October 1st 2019 to September 30th 2020.**

## **Registered Charity 328398.**

2019/20 has been a difficult year. Due to the pandemic, trustees have been unable to meet in person as much as we would normally. However, thanks to Zoom, we were able to meet virtually and maintain oversight of the Trust. There are a number of changes planned, but these are on hold until we are able to change the signatories on our bank account to reflect the new trustees and officers. This means that Rev Stephen Pratt who continues as treasurer is unable to sign cheques etc as the old signatories remain. We are grateful to Ken for his continued work in doing this.

Although the year has been difficult in some respects, our income has increased from £38,359 to £43,491. This was due to a Giving Review amongst those who already gave and a drive to encourage move one off and regular givers to the Trust. This was done before the pandemic and fortunately all our donors give by DD.

We have continued to be unable to reclaim the Tax on Gift Aided for another year, meaning that we have now not claimed tax back for 4 years. This has not been for the want of trying, and efforts will continue to ensure we do not lose out on this valuable income.

Expenditure however has risen again, mainly due to some financial and legal advice that we needed as the Trust was considering some structural changes.

The overall effect of these changes to income and expenditure is that our Cash Funds at the year’s end have decreased from £55454 to £46311. In future years we should attempt to increase our donations and increase the number of donors, but we must also ensure we are able to claim tax back from Gift Aided Donations – this is the priority for 2020/21.

I would like to thank the congregation of St James’ church for their continuing generosity, without whose support our ministry throughout the Benefice would be much poorer
