Wilrnslow Wells for Afriea- Registernl Charity No. 328330 Summary of Wilmslow Wells activities Since its fomiation in the mid-1980 4 the charity has raised £1,624,142. Its running Costs have utilised £1 1.908 of this. This has left £1,612:234 {99.311/0 of funds raised) available for its charitable objectives. Of this £1.587:125 (98.4 % ) has been spent on over 315 projects, helping provide clean water to local communities. The provision of readily accessible clean water helps reduce disease and eliminates the need to spend hours each day collecting water, often from unsafe sourccs. The funds we have not yel spent reflect the time it takes to identify and cvaluatc projects. We have to obtain inforniation on projec ensure they appear to be properly researched as to cost and feasibility and have appropriate ongoing maintenance arrangements in place and satisfy ourselves they represent reasonable value in terms of the number of >ple helped. We request rerM)rts on the progress and completion of project4 to providc evidcnce that the funds were used appropriately and to enable us to monitor the project against the proposal. Activities during the year: During the current year the totsl income amounted to £72,403, details of which are set out in Ihe attached accounts. We are very grat¢ful for the support we rec¢iv¢ ft>r our w(Trrk Our fund-raising events had a good year. Our Gardens day was again highly successful and was blessed with giKKI weather. We were able to bold both our Souperdays which were well supported. The bridge drive reiurned and w'as generously sryknsored by D J Masse>.. the jewellers. We sold Christmas cards via the Wilmslow Charit), Christmas Card Shop and tea towels and other textile goods are also available for sale. All these aciivities maintained our profile and highlighted the enornious need for water in Africa. We also maintained our presence on Facebook. We have 'orked lo introduce acccptancc of credit cards to facilitate les of ticket5 for our event via QR codes and card machines. 2024 will mark the 40 anniversary of thc launch of Wilm51ow Wc115 and plans are underwav for a commemordtive booklet and a celebration concert. Details will be available via our website. We have an incre&sing number of supporters who have entered into regular monthly donations by standing order, often SUPFK)rted by Gift Aid. Details of thi5 scheme and of Gift Aid donation5 can be obtained from the Treasurer. As a result of all these efforts we managed to genernte a good level of income from fundraising events and for donations despite the challenging economic environment.
Wilmslow Wells for Africa- R¢gistered Charity No. 328330 Payrnents during the peri(Ml amounied to £64.975 which included £63,966 on 20 projects in 7 countries. Our decisions to support prOJts are based on ¢osL numbers of Ople helped. the severity of the need and the viabiliry of the project. Detailed reports on the projects ar¢ included in our regular newsletters. Subsequent lo the y¢ar<nd we have donated a further £14,612 towards 4 MO projecls and we are at the evalu&ion slage with a number of other proposals. All work Carried out for the charity is on a volunlary basis and there are no paid employees. Our website 'wTrvw.wilmslowwells.o gives details of fund-raising events. projects undertaken and our history. It also provides links enabling people to make donations online. The website has generdted contacts from new donors and potential projects and partners. We have received a number of donations through the internet as a result. If supporters wish to use the facility they can donate via our website if they have a Charities Aid Foundation account or by debit or credit card.
