Wilmslow We115 for Africa- R¢gistered Charity No. 328330
The Trusttts Conf￿ that they have referred to th¢ guidan¢¢ contained in the Charity
Commission s general guidance on public benefit when reviewing the clwity's objectives
and in approving projects for support.
Summary of Wilmslow Wells acttvities
Sincc its fomiation in the mid-1980'& th¢ charity has rnised £1,552,084. Its running costs
have utilise4J £11,245 of this. This has left £1.540,839 (99.30/0 of funds raised) available for
its charitsble objectives. Of this £1,523:159 (98.9 /0) h&$ been spent on over 295 projects,
helping provide clean water lo lo￿1 communities. The provision of rcadily accessible clean
water helps reduce diswe and eliminates the need to spend hours each day collecting water,
oft¢n from unsafe sources.
The funds we have not yet spent reflect the time it takes to identify and evaluate projects.
We have to obtain infornlation on projects, ensure they ap￿ar to be properly researched as
to cost and f￿lbilIty and have appropriate ongoing maintenance arrangements in place and
satisfy ourselves they represent reasonable value in ternis of the number of people hel￿.
We request re￿rtS on the progress and completion of projects, to provide evidence that the
funds were used appropriately and to enable us lo monitor the project against the proposal.
Activities duriDg the year:
During the Current year the total income amounted to £62:301. details of which are set out in
the atsached accounts. We are very gratefvl for the support we receive for our work
Our fimd-raising events returned to near no￿al as we saw Covid restrictions case. Our
Gardens day was again highly successful and was blessed with good weather. Our
Souperday was able to return in March and was well supported. An 'Afternoon Tea. event
was held as a one off. We sold Christmas cards via the Wilmslow Christmas card shop again
after its closure during the pandemic. Tea towels and other textile goods are also available
for sale. All these activities maintained our profile and highlighted the enormous need for
watcr in Africa. We also maintained our presence on Facebook and created an Instagram
account linked to Gardens Day.
We have an increasing numkr of SUPFK)rtcrs who have entered into regular monthly
donations by standing order, often SUPFK)rted by Gift Aid. Detsils of this scheme and of Gift
Aid donations can be obtained from the Treasurer.
As a result of all these efforts we managed to generate a good level of income from
fundrdiSiDg events and for donations despite the challenging economic environm¢nt.
